I'm a veggie aspiring towards vegan so I try not to eat dairy too often and soy or rice milk "ice cream" can be an acquired taste if you try to judge it in terms of dairy. It definately stands on it's own as a frozen dessert though, especially in comparison to "diet" frozen desserts (or "light" ice cream) which are usually laden with large amounts of sucralose or aspertame which was actually how I found it...well before my veggie days when I was trying to take off football weight.

27. I used to get it when I lived in Philly
Edited on Mon Nov-07-05 05:24 PM by Beaverhausen
I remember one summer day, ordering a cone of this at a stand down in Old Town Philly that sold Bassetts exclusively. I remember this particular serving because it was incredibly fresh, creamy and refreshing - just what I needed on a hot, humid day.

edit: this was in the early 80s. I don't know if they still make it to the high standards they used to but boy, that was the best stuff back then.

Their website is pretty fun!

I used to be a chocolate chip guy. A few years ago I had to admit mint was superior. But lately I've been hedging and alternating. Generally I'm very loyal so chocolate chip has found its way to my cart more often than not. Waffle cones don't hurt, the huge variety.
