......sixteen days after wilma...me and my neighbors and friends on my
block, just got our power back. what an adrenaline rush and subsequently what an adrenaline down!

Dish network says that, "as a special to aid hurricane victims whose
dish need to be realigned after wilma", they are, "offering a special where for $29.99 they'll send a technician to realign peoples dish." HOWEVER, "payment has to be received by Dish Network", before they will even consider setting up said special aid package to hurricane victims."

I say that is GOUGING.

the tech on the phone said, "No. We are a corporation."

I said, " Oh, come at me with some other bullshit. Bush is a fascisst. He is for corporations. Corporations are fascists. Your are a fascist and you are gouging."

end of conversation.

rejoining the world of light is full of anxieties.

you CAN do this yourself. Figure it out and help friends if you can. Hope all gets better for you.

at least you can keep your favorite brew cold without ice...

5. If you have one person inside to watch the signal strength
while one person outside adjusts the dish it's not hard. It can be VERY frustrating getting it just right, but it can be done. good luck and best wishes.

8. thanks ...
wilma did a lot of havoc here in broward county--but despite it all, we are all thankful that it did not become our katrina, i.e., there were no dead bodies floating on the streets, our fences may be down, and our tress might have been obliterated, sixteen days without power for many of us, and others still counting, but we have our lives, and our homes, and lots of repairs to do and willingness to do them with.
i think none of us were expecting wilma to hit with the power it did and perhaps least of all FPL who did not heed advise to replace its 10,000 rotting polls throughout Broward County and found that many of them were downed by the storm...with the consequence that it left so many of us without power!

Adjusting back to life with power is exhausting as the realization begins to dawn that there is a world out there beyond the darkness, and that so much has to be cleaned inside, as well as outside the house beginning with a refrigerator which hasn't worked in 16 days...and the dogs who have become infected with the worst flea and tick infestation in their lives ever!

No complaints. Wilma was no Katrina. Florida became no New Orleans.
Just the tiredness that comes with releasing all of the pent up emotional stress.

Thanks for your ear. It helps.
