I feel I had a Seinfeldesque moment today.
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 12:31 AM by LostInAnomie
Today, to complete part of my requirements for my Masters program I had to interview a school administrator. Upon entering the office I greeted her and stuck out my hand to shake her hand. I had all of my paperwork and interviewing materials under my left arm and she had a pen in her right hand. Instead of her putting her pen down to shake hands normally, we exchanged an odd right hand/left hand handshake that left both of us confused.

What made it Seinfeldesque is that it troubled me throughout the interview and I have talked to everyone else I have came into contact with today about this seemingly innocuous yet off-putting event.

Am I just weird?

1. NO, you are not weird, my dear LostInAnomie!
When the so-called common courtesies are disrupted for any reason, then we all feel discombobulated.......

I suspect you continue to be troubled by this because you had to interview this Administrator.....

The situation was charged for you......So you were sensitive to it...

Time to let go, my dear......

:loveya:

2. Thanks Peggy.
It is weird though. I mean, why couldn't she just put down that pen? The handshake resembled one of those maneuvers in the movies where the man takes the woman's hand in order to kiss it. Only instead of kissing there was an awkward shaking motion.
