My local radio station is already doing Christmas Music 24/7.
This is normally a pop type station which I listen off and on to particularly at the gym. Flipped it on last night to get an earfull of Christmas music. Its NOV 8th... Nov 8th and already we get 24/7 Christmas music.. I mean damn shoot me now. Can we at least wait until Nov 25th or better yet... Dec 18th. Each year it seems to get earlier and earlier.

Check it out. They even have a nice little countdown.. ONLY 45 days.

1. I used to hate Christmas music when I worked retail
I worked at a now-defunct department store (Steketees) and at a KMart. They start playing Christmas music on the PA system long before Thanksgiving and by the time Christmas actually does roll around, I'd be totally sick of it.

2. Ours usually starts the day after Thanksgiving.
That's pretty much the perfect time for me. After all the Black Friday shopping, turning on the radio to hear Christmas carols is always fun. :)

I love the X-Mas radio wars in KC.

5. Nothing makes me angrier except rude children
Let's play St. Patrick's Day music in December? Why not, we might as well start drinking to celebrate. Nothing like a good slosh to prepare for a useless Holiday.

6. I work retail and LOVE Christmas music, but...
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 01:25 PM by CBHagman
...I have had it with this business of putting up Christmas decorations in early or mid-autumn and playing Christmas music through the month of November, then stopping the Christmas music on December 26th.

When I lived in Europe, Christmas was a season, not a day, and that's how I still view it. Also, the whole concept of Christmas as merely a shopping event was not rammed down our throats. There were all kinds of Advent, Saint Nicholas Day, New Year, and also more or less pagan Winter Solstice type events to enjoy.

The current idiocy is almost unbearable, and I've complained to at least one store. We need to let them know precisely how this affects us and preferably boycott stores and advertisers that support this sort of thing.

I'm not talking about boxes of Christmas cards for sale on Aisle 3. I'm talking giant Santa displays on September 20th.
