I need some food and wine help
Edited on Wed Nov-09-05 05:23 PM by Quetzal
I am looking for a sweet French red wine and an excellent Tiramisu recipe.

No, the wine and the Tiramisu do not need to complement each other.

Where can a guy find a sommelier when he needs one?

Thx

Quetzal

1. I enjoy a Shraz, light and not too sweet
Depends on what you are serving it with

2. Here are tons of tiramisu recipes

We use this one, Emiril's, off the site:

except we just buy the pound cake and slice and toast it in the oven and anywhere the recipe says rum or Grand Marnier we substitute Frangelico. Also, we don't slice the pound cake long ways. I make thin slices and the lay them in the bottom of the pan after toasting and do two layers...coffee soaked cake, cream, powdered sugar and cocoa powder and repeat. It truly is heavenly!

Enjoy! :hi:

Can't help you with the wine since I don't drink anymore and I was strictly a cabernet, merlot, pinot noir when I did. Can't do sweet wine.

3. How sweet is sweet?
Are you talking port sweet or beaujolais sweet? If you can give a little more info, I can probably give you several suggestions.

As for tiramisu, this one is perfection (and definitely take the suggestion in the reviews about adding some dissolved gelatine--you'll find the tip easily enough). I've made this several times.

4. Giada DeLaurentiis' tiramasu recipe is good and easy (ish)
Go to her webpage at the Food Channel.

Little Big Head has a big head, but her recipes rock!

5. Call a wine club or specialist for a Vin Doux Naturel
It is sweet french wine fortified with brandy (if you really mean sweet)... can be red or white

If what you are looking for is a "fruity" wine, a syrah is what you'd want or equivalent.
