2. The lack of cars is stunning...

and the effects of the war (so soon over in some of those pics) is evident too..

I bet a lot of Germans would kind of like it to go back to that slower era:)

3. Perhaps you're right.

This era was called the 'Wirtschaftswunder' (Economy wonder), where they really prospered and started to enjoy a whole new mind set.

One of the pictures just reminded me of one from my own family albums; where my uncle shipped a Chevrolet over to Switzerland in the early 60's. It was quite a stunning sight, then.

4. and after years of war and depression, they were just starting

to emerge...hesitant yet eager all at the same time.. There's one pic in an album of a horse drawn cart as transportation.. You just forget that in the middle of the 20th century, a major "player" in Europe was not yet on their feet..
