The whole point of running Kerry was that he couldn't be slimed as a weak-on-terrorists wimp, right? Because of his brave service in Vietnam, which everyone in the Bush administration coincidentally avoided, correct? So what happened? Oh yeah, I remember. They slimed him anyway.

That is precisely who Wes Clark is.

I have a rare video I taped myself, of an entire 90 min stump speech by Clark. I will have the ability to digitize it soon, and will post 10 min clips or donate it to a Clark site to host, and then no one will ever doubt his sincerity again.

Such a person will say whatever he needs to say about anyone in order to win, the truth be damned. Clark's distinguished military career will not innoculate him against any kind of right-wing smear. No matter how ridiculous, Limbaugh will repeat and amplify it, as will the Fox News pundits, as will all the Rush clones out there on AM radio. They turn strengths into weaknesses.

I think that many here are simply star struck. You do not need another military man running on his record of bravery of service. You do not need another "safe" candidate in the mould of Hillary Clinton. What you need is someone who is going to capitalise on the troubles the Bush administration has for itself. Someone who will articulate what they will do different. Otherwise it will all go to waste in public apathy. Then the real nightmare would begin, because that will allow the real extremists a look in.
