I rarely ever do. I'm usually more into the sound of the music and voices.

Does that mean anything?

1. I can't do that--my sister does though.
I am all about lyrics. There are some songs where I 'forgive' the lyrics because I like the music, but my favorite artists/songs are those whose lyrics I find compelling.

If they're in another language or I can't understand them (reggae) I have to google and find out or it drives me nuts. I want to know what I'm singing.

But my sister's like you. I don't get that, but you go girls, LOL!

2. Depends on the music for me
I pay attention to country music lyrics. But for other styles, if I like the sound and vocals, I can often ignore the lyrics. Sometimes I don't understand the lyrics.

3. It means that you're more into the sound of the music and voices
That's all. My SO is like that where I am very into lyrics. A song may have a great beat and some wonderful instrumental pieces but if the lyrics are stupid or silly, I probably won't much like it. I'm a word person.

That's what makes the world so much fun - we're all different.

4. I am EXACTLY like you.
I rarely know the lyrics to songs, unless they are so clear that you can't miss them. A lot of songs/singers are difficult to understand.

One thing I always noticed about the Eagles, is that you can't miss their lyrics. It is not that way for most groups.

5. depends on the song
there was a song that Sting first did and I really never heard or thought about the words until Alannis Morissette covered it.

6. I'm VERY hung up on lyrics.
If I love the sound but hate the lyrics, I won't own it.

7. I kind of do...
I mean, I might know all the words to a song, but in general never really digest what they "mean" to any great extent. Plenty of songs I have dissected and digested, but a lot of them I haven't. Of course, a lot of them are probably meaningless anyway.

Not to revive the Oasis flamewars, but I love "Champagne Supernova" as a performance, but the lyrics seem to be absolute balderdash.

8. Usually I'm big into lyrics.
That is, if the song is in a language I speak, I generally want to know what it's saying. And if the words are hard to understand, as they often are (Bruce Springsteen comes to mind, as does Fleetwood Mac), I'll google for them.

In some cases, when the words are hard to understand, I've made my own interpretations of them - and I like them so much that I don't want to know the real text. But that's rare.

It's not so rare that I have my own words or my own variations to a song, even when knowing the actual lyrics. So yes, I'm big on the text - and as someone else said, if I like the music and hate the words, I'm unlikely to like the song.

Now, I do like foreign-language music with vocals, even if I can't understand the words. Obviously in that case I don't care that much what the words are or what the song is saying. I just like the sound of voices singing - as opposed to instrumental music with no words at all, which I almost universally loathe.

To each their own. :)

9. If it something I like, I try to catch the lyrics
I usually don't catch all but the most obvious stuff the first time around though.
