3. A rebate for a friend, stuck to my rebate
Totally different last names, addresses, even states. We can't figure out how that happened.

4. Disposable diaper samples
Edited on Fri Nov-11-05 10:06 PM by LeftyMom
My son was in cloth diapers at the time, so I have no idea how we wound up on that mailing list.

They still send me coupons. He's almost five. :eyes:

11. We didn't do an announcement
I've had stalker issues in the past, the last thing I wanted to do was get my name in the paper. :scared:

12. Didn't the hospitals
used to do it as a matter of course before HIPAA? I don't think there was a choice for the parent was there? Just like the papers post death notices that are totally seperate from the obits the families have put in the paper.

5. Toast
Yep. Toast, with postage on it and everything.

And my draft card 12 years after it was sent to me. I can only guess that it got dropped behind a file cabinet at the post office.

6. A rusty horseshoe
Courtesy of the Marlboro mialing list. I guess they thought it was cowboy-esque or something, and a rusty horseshoe would inspire me to smoke more.

8. I once send a real coconut with postage on it to a friend up north.
It was quite the rage in the 50s and 60s, but not sure if they do it now, what with agricultural requirements, etc.

9. My wife once received a 50 page love letter from an old admirer.
It was pretty weird and a little scary too.

I don't get weird things in the mail, unless you count birthday cards from my mother-in-law.

Laura Bush as the guest. It was in a private home in the area. Don't know how I got on the invite list.

16. Not me, but... a hamburger.

My friend from high school and her boyfriend went to different colleges few hundred miles apart. He kept complaining about the dorm's cafeteria food. Said he dying for some home cookin' So she cooked up a hamburger and sent it to him. In a manila envelope. Which was soaked in grease and rather pungent upon delivery. He sent it back to her in the same envelope with a note, "Needs ketchup." By then the envelope was stinky and falling apart, and the post office had to put the whole mess into a larger, clear envelope. The postman waited until my friend was home to deliver that latest volley.

The postman was not pleasant.
