Cat Question- trainning a kitty to stay inside.
Hey all I have a question about one of my two new kittens. First the brother Kimaul is a lap cat and he has no problem staying inside and being cuddled etc. The promblem is Tsonga she constantly wants out of the house and I dont want her to get hit by a car. So if you help me out with advice I'd appreciate it. Note pets in need put a chip in both of them and of course there both fixed.

1. Do they have access to windows? Cats like that, especially if they

can sleep.

I have to have a cat bed in the window of almost every room in the house. It would suck for them if they didn't.

2. never let him/her out?
Hi,
I always let my previous cats out. I decided to not let my present
cat out as a kitten. Now that she is an adult I can open the door and she just sniffs, or if I am out on the back porch she will just go on the step and hop back in if she hears or sees anything threatening, i.e. a leaf blowing or a dog barking. I suppose it depends on the cat of course. I suggest you never let them out to begin with, if that is your intention, but again, depends on the cat, they have a tendency to do what they want, which is one of the reasons I will always have a cat. Dogs drool, cats rule!

Peace

3. my 4 yr old boobie has been indoor/outdoor
and he was just attacked by a dog.
Came into the house with his collars covered in blood; he ended up with six stiches in his throat area and punctures on his head.
And mom had about a million heartattacks :puke:

so now, 6 weeks later he is absolutely freaking out to go outside,a nd im contemplating some kind of outdoor enclosed Catmandu type thing.

7. Thanks but the problem is shes lightning fast and incredibly sneaky.
I was thinking of getting a small chain and taking her out a couple of times a day to cure the urge so to speak.

4. Stay in Control
Remember two important things:
1. You are bigger than the cat.
2. You open and shut the doors.

We have a cat who was picked up from the streets with her kittens, all in not very good shape. After treatment and shots, the kittens were adopted right away. We adopted their mom a couple of months later.

We have been keeping her indoors. She has gotten out a couple of times but does not try very hard anymore. If we watch her when we open the door, she will stay put. We have several spots where she can watch the outside world and/or sleep, which she likes.
