1. That is bizarre
The heart beat of the mother is soothing. The familiar voice of the mother is soothing. An annoying constant humming unnatural white-noise? That does not sound soothing.

2. It is soothing, however, for Xenu alien fetuses.

6. That's sad, isn't it?

I wish her parents would have gotten involved earlier, not that I'm sure that would have worked. I'll still keep her as a crush, but I'm disappointed in Katie.

I actually like a few celeb Scientologists. Sharon Case (Sharon on Young And The Restless - a crush,) Beck (good music,) Jenna Elfman (good actress,) Liz Phair (good music and attractive,) but it looks like they got into it on their own accord. I'll just let them be and concentrate on what I like.

7. Liz Phair's a scientologist?
Interesting. I like the work of some scientologists too. Jason Lee is funny in movies. Beck is okay. I think Neil Gaiman is a scientologist, too.

8. Yes, and it's better than being a Republican in my book
Many Scientologists happen to be liberal, in fact. I just disagree with the practice.

9. Neil Gaiman was declared a "Surpressive Person" in 1983--
essentially, he was "excommunicated" from the Church of Scientology. His parents and his wife (at least until 2002) are/were still active members though.

10. Glad to hear it. I don't see how they can associate with an SP though.
 Probably a big donation to Applied Scholastics or something.

12. Loud humming device intended to soothe her unborn child?
What happened to a "silent birth" so the child wouldn't be traumatized? :eyes: She has to be silent during the birth but can wear a loud humming device to soothe it? :puke:

13. Scientology is cult
followed by sheep. it's even worse than Fundamentalist Christianity.

Like Maynard Keenan said: "Fuck L. Ron Hubbard and fuck all his clones"

16. Some differences
Edited on Sun Nov-13-05 02:17 PM by mvd
Scientology isn't influencing government like the Christian fundies are.

Most Christian fundies are conservative.

Scientology relies more on "self-help" than politics, unlike Christian fundies. Or else there wouldn't be so many liberals joining.

And a similarity: Christian fundie churches demand that members accept teaching as God's truth, just like Scientologists are required to do things to be good Scientologists.

So overall, Christian fundies bother me more.

19. Actually, the CoS did sponsor bills in the FL House this Spring.
They had to do with the school system there and psychology/psychiatric records of students in the middle and high schools. Yucky shit--the Scieno-sponors wanted FL schools to tell parents of kids being screened for mental health needs that the treatment would be left on some "permanent record." That's hardly the same thing as what some "Christian groups" are trying to do, but the CoS members have been trying to "branch out" into government more recently.

17. Lord. Katie: RUN AWAY!!!
Maybe she'll do that after she experiences the joys of childbirth without pain management or approval to make any noise.

18. Wait, their religion says the chick has to give birth without aid and yet
she'll wear the baby-soothing buzzer?!

Inane and pompous.
