what is this "HUGH" all about?
where did it stem from? i see it everywhere on DU lately, and i have no idea why  i know it's used in place of 'huge', but does the misspelling have something to do with freepers or something?

1. From the same place "morans" came from...
I asked the same question and they mocked me.

3. did you get invited to go back to freeperville too?
it's a little known fact that most people in the lounge are in fact sleeper cells of raving freepers padding their post counts . . .

5. "HUGH" is a word in Freeper Inglish, which has been adopted into the
mainstream with mocking connotations. Other Freeper to English loanwords include:
SERIES - serious
MORAN - moron
MOREL(S) - moral(s)
BRIAN - brain

as in: you are a SERIESLY HUGH MORAN with no MORELS who should get a BRIAN!

Freeper orthography does not use minuscule letterforms, so only the majuscules are used in transcriprion.

The Freeper lexicon appears to be mostly Germanic in stock, as is the case with mainstream English, although there is significantly less emphasis on correct grammar in Freeper schools, which often leads to notable linguistic innovations, such as the phrases "code brown" (meaning to defecate) and "stickily lies" (as yet undeciphered).

7. It's from "Hugh O'Brien"
he played Wyatt Earp on Tv. Earp sounds like "burp" -- which is rude and impolite. Freepers are rude and impolite so we mock them that way. I'm pretty sure that's it.

13. He's an actor
He's got floppy hair, an English accent, and he annoys the HELL out of me because he plays the SAME stammering, stuttering, too- cute- and- coy- for- words character in almost every damned movie he's in.

And he cheated in Elizabeth Hurley with a $60 hooker. (WHAT?)

Oh, not that Hugh...

Hehe
