My dog tried to bring a squirrel inside yesterday!
:(

Not sure if it was already dead or if he killed it. But had my little dog not tattled on him (she always lets me know when the other dogs are up to no good), it would have probably been in the bed with me. We were still in bed and when my husband went in the living room to see what was going on, my dog's head was in the doggie door with the squirrel in his mouth. It really hurt my feelings for the squirrel! I think he wanted to show us what he got, like it was a prize or something.

4. This isn't the first time he has had issues with small animals.
There have been birds, squirrels, a rat, a possum, and one time a baby kitten  I don't think he really means to kill them. I have seen him do it to a baby bird. I was trying to rescue the bird, but he got to it first. He just scooped in up in his mouth and started tossing it in the air like he does his toys. He doesn't viciously attack them, but I don't really know a dogs tactics on killing. The animals are never bloody.

2. Ah the joys of companion animals
I have a horror bordering on phobia of dead animals, particularly birds. So far, we've had the gifts of a large eviserated mouse and a really, really big bird brought up to our second-floor apartment by our small cat.

A third bird, a tiny wren, was later discovered to be alive, albeit minus crucial tailfeathers.

As I believe LynneSin once said (and I paraphrase) "I'd never name my cat a sweet adjective, like Precious. Once you've seen your cat with tailfeathers sticking out of its mouth, those names just don't work anymore."

Poor squirrely
