Katie Holmes to give up acting...
I know, I know, who really cares?

Katie Holmes is to quit acting.

The actress wants to become a full-time mother.

She is expecting her first child with fiance Tom Cruise early next year reports The Sun.

A source said: "Katie has decided to give up acting altogether. She's been telling friends that she and Tom have decided it is best she stays at home and brings up their new baby.

"Her decision is raising a lot of eyebrows in Hollywood. She is at the perfect age for so many screen roles and has completely closed the door on a promising career."

2. Good for her!!!
It's so pleasant in the mansions in the quiet of the morning, when the baby is asleep, and the servants have been told to be...well....unobtrusive....

...makes her retirement pretty much a smart move

5. Well, Tom has brazillion dollars. He damn well better take care of her.
Gay or not, he's made a commitment.

To break up with her out of selfishness would be vile.

And since this is hollywood, I won't be surprised when he does leave her for the next one.

Not that I can do anything about it, but when you make a child it's best to stay with them until they reach at least 18.

12. If anyone saw "First Daughter"
this will be seen as merciful for everyone. Plus, this will give her more time to polish Tom Cruise's bowling trophies.

If I think anything when I think about her, I send the best wishes I can for an easy birth, a healthy child, and that she will have NO postpartum depression, because he won't have any compassion for her. IMHO, YMMV, don't need to get sued by his attorneys...

She's actually been in a few good films though. Mind you she wasn't memorable in any of them. But she was in them.

15. I'm kind of thinking that Cruise won't marry her... just a hunch,
after all, what's he waiting for?

He wiggled out of his marriage to NK JUST under the 10 year line that would have made a critical financial difference.

So why hasn't he married the VERY pregnant mother of his child yet? You know, for being such old fashioned people, and all?

Katie, er Kate knows she's hit the jackpot on this one.

I figure this kid is worth a few million a year at least.

16. I think the same thing...
Most of us normal people need to wait for our weddings - we need to save money and wait to plan certain things - but when you're a celeb money isn't an object. And I'd bet that the Ritz in CA would clear their calendars for whenever TomKat wanted to make it official.

There really is no reason for them not to get married now if they really are intending to do it...

Edited on Mon Nov-14-05 07:09 PM by mvd
As I've said, Scientologists aren't omnipresent in politics as much as fundie Christians, but I'd never become one of either.

But she's not giving up any of that now, so I respect her decision to stay home.

42. 'Full time mother'
This is NOT to disparage stay-at-home moms, but I don't understand how anyone can be a 'full-time mother' - when was the last time you heard a man describe his lifestyle/financial/family choice as being a 'full-time father'? That idea doesn't even EXIST for men - why does it for women?

This kind of thing burns me up.
