AAAAGH! It's beguan, the Christmas buying madness season!
Catching a little TV Friday night, and noticed a commercial for Kohls that employed Christmas themes. Then another on Saturday night for another company. Sunday I saw Christmas advertising in the local paper. And our local public radio station started in today with advertisements for its Christmas programs. AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!MAKE IT STOP!

Is it me or is this onslaught starting even earlier this year? My thought is that retailers are convinced that Christmas figures are going to be down this year, so they had best get what they can when they can.

I just despise the commercialization of Christmas, and I refuse to do any shopping, or get in the Christmas spirit, until two weeks before the big day.

Until then, Bah Humbug on everything Christmas. We haven't even gotten past Thanksgiving yet.

3. Hear, hear, I agree whole heartedly.
It just burns me to have this shit start so soon. After a few weeks it just gets to the point where I want to jab an ice pick through my brain to make it all stop.

Non-stop pressure to buy Buy BUY! Christmastime capitalism at its best.

Also on this weekend I saw a little puff piece on how not to rack up those big Christmas credit card bills. Basically, don't spend so much, DUH. Sad to say there are going to be many many people driven even further into debt after Christmas because they just had to get their kids the latest, hippest whatever, or to keep up with the Jones. Capitalism at its best, ruining a nice holiday and destroying peoples' lives with outrageous debt.

5. Okay, I am the devil's advocate
I own a shop that caters to people who want to make something for those they'd like to give a gift to. If they don't start NOW, they won't be done with their project by the big day. My customers are actually a bit late this year. They usually start visiting just before Halloween.

7. Making gifts I understand
And I'm doing some of that myself this year, and yes I generally start before Halloween.

No, my real beef is the retailers who aren't "do it yourselfers", dept. stores, Christmas music in the stores, all of that garbage and more that they use to drill it into your head that Christmas is coming.

I've just come to loathe the ever increasing commercilization of Christmas, and having it shoved down our throats every year.

Already pre-loaded with $30 bucks so they can buy whatever they want. They all fit inside my glove box! Traveling with gifts can't be any easier!

26. Allegedly it's because of the heating costs...
I think one of the NPR money shows was talking about this and they claim stores are rolling it all out in order to get people to buy stuff now before they realize how much they're going to have to spend to heat their homes.

I think the stores would have done it anyway even if heat were free.

I also refuse to do any christmas shopping until 2 weeks before christmas, (though if I'm making a gift I have to start it earlier of course), just because I don't want to give in to this christmas stuff is ok to have out in October crap.

27. The day after Halloween here in Northern Virginia
I walked into a store and they were putting up decorations and hauling out candy and gift crap. That's two months for one bloody day! I'm glad I'm a heathen. Just waiting for the Solstice, so the light can start returning.
