2. The big problem with Happy Holidays is that it is aliterates
and thus is exceedingly obnoxious.

Very occasionally Season's Greetings, but nearly always Merry Christmas.

3. I say whichever fits the audience
I belonged to a Presby church in MD a long time ago. PCUSA has never made up its mind about grape juice v wine. When we served communion, we had circular trays of little cups. The outer rings were grape juice and the inner rings were wine. "Choose that which is appropriate for you."

I take the same approach to holiday greetings. With my non-churchy friends it's Happy Holidays, or Happy Winter Solstice. With my churchy friends it's Merry Christmas.

4. In Brazil we usually say "Boas Festas" (Happy Holidays)
because you're wishing good Christmas and New Year in one fell swoop. Accordingly, we say "Feliz Natal" (Happy Christmas) when it's a few days before CHristmas, and "Feliz Ano Novo" (Happy New Year) between Xmas and New Year.

That must only mean we're a heathen nation that persecutes Christmas and wants to throw God out of society. :sarcasm:

5. Other...
I usually wish people a Happy Yuletide. I prefer to keep Xmas Pagan.

I celebrate the pagan traditions that were usurped by the christian holiday. Like Saturnalia, we have a big feast to celebrate the winter solstice, and like the Scandinavian Yuletide we burn the yule log as a offering to the sun god in hope that he will return from his sleep again this year. Of course, take your pick of Sun God; Mithra, Marduk, Ra, they are all cool by me. :)
