Yahoo instant messenger question
What does it means when it says someone has "stepped out"?

It doesn't mean this person doesn't want to speak to you no more, asshole, does it?

1. nah
I think it just means the person isn't at the computer but will be back in a not too long time.

2. You're right
If someone's hiding, they'll just sign in as invisible and you won't even know they're online.

3. But when someone's offline
the yellow smiley face becomes a grey face. But now the smiley face has a "no entry" sign on it, with the text "stepped out" next to it. I haven't seen that before.

4. when you go to status
you can chose between different settings. One is "stepped out". It just means the person doesn't want to be interrupted at the moment or tells you "Hey, I am not at my computer at the moment".

5. Linguistically I'd guess that it means "has pottered off for a wee while"
I know that MSN messenger gives the little no entry sign when folk are away.

Though if it does mean "this person doesn't want to speak to you", then the stepping out could refer to the person's brain - as they would obviously be totally barking mad. Certainly I'd never drop you from my list if you were on it.

7. It means the person stepped away from their computer and
is on their way to work.

You may want to send the person a gmail. I am sure that they would love to hear from you.

9. Are you sure you have the right gmail address.
Of course, you have to give them a chance to get to a computer to receive the mail too.

If you sent it, I am absolutely positive that they will answer you. I just know. :pals:

12. I like the options that Yahoo messenger offers.
My messenger has 11 outgoing settings.
5 of them are personal entries.

You can block anyone from seeing what your availability status is or go into the stealth mode.

13. Hi Joani
I don't need a stealth mode. ;) Either I'm available, or I'm not. If I'm available, I'll talk to you.

14. I have the message " ~ do you DU? ~ " showing when I'm not invisible.
Since Yahoo stores instant messages that I can read when I get back to my computer my friends IM me anyway.
If I'm sitting here (as I am most days) I'll surprise them with an answer. ;)
