I am questioning the point of having a blog.....

5. Ok....
love the art! But the site lacks a focus. What's your gig here? The stories are all over the place and the top gives me no guidance. As you know, there are a brazilian of these blogs out there now -- you need a niche and something visually arresting for the people who just stumble on the site. What's your niche? Plus, of course, you need to get cited by other sites so they point to you. A good, short rant linked from DU can be a start. And nothing beats self-promotion -- post your thoughts on other blogs and link back to yourself for "more."

6. thank you!
the original focus was to be the original art.

but I don't pump out a painting everyday, so I needed something to carry over the interim.

I realize the politics is a little whoop-dee-doo, but I have about two to three hours to focus on this blog a day, so I can't get too much up.

Although I have streamlined the process, so I can easily double the current amount of postings.

7. I'd find a focus for those non-art postings....
or start blogging about art itself -- where it intersects with politics, sports, big business, science -- whatever. That's a wonderful niche and I don't know if anybody has taken it. The problem now is you go from politics to sports to art -- so it's not an efficient blog for a busy reader. You need to cultivate people with a specific interest and then feed it.

9. here's an example of the kind of story you can focus on:
I just quickly Googled "ancient art" and found this a minute ago. It's actually pretty interesting! The only Wright hotel?

Glass blower creates works of art
By Deirdre Cox Baker

The only remaining hotel in the world designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright is in Mason City, Iowa, and one of those working on a $10 million restoration of the structure is a Quad-City glass artist.
Louis Brems/QUAD-CITY TIMES Glass artist Adrian English uses tongs to shape the opening of a bowl as he uses a heat paddle with the help of Aaron Kirchhoff at Glass Heritage in Davenport.

Adrian English, co-owner of Glass Heritage in downtown Davenport, has practiced his craft for four years, including the last 18 months in the 3rd Street location. The 21-year-old actually discovered the ancient art — man’s use of glass traces back to 5000 B.C. — as a student at Davenport West High School.

“I saw a flier for an Explorer program and got involved,” English said. He learned how to do glass blowing with on-the-job training and has taken additional classes over the years for specific techniques. For the Park Inn Hotel, he’s building a special reproduction window in a pair of French doors.
