Yay!! My alligator is back!
Edited on Wed Nov-16-05 02:21 PM by Shell Beau
We have a small lake/pond in back of our office. It is home for many alligators. They rarely come out of the water, but I haven't seen any in a while. There is a log sticking out of the water not to far off the shore. The turtles pile up on the log everyday. Today, the alligator joined them!! I'm so glad to see him/her again. I always wondered why the turtles weren't afraid of the gators!

On edit, where is the camera when you need it!! x(

5. Frequently my sister in lowcountry SC has a gator visit their
pond in the backyard.

Not as many in upstate SC, but I've heard there are some.

9. those gators speak French?
I wonder what effect Katrina had on the Gulf Coast gators. If some of them migrated due to pollution in their environment.

Or for that matter, other wildlife in the area.

ANybody out there got a link about this, please send it.

10. I wouldn't try to pet him to see if he remembers you.
I think they've got a rather small brain.

11. LOL!! Don't worry!
Wouldn't even think of it! Although one time some deputies picked up one off of the highway and I was at the courthouse where they had him for the time being (in the back of the truck). They had his mouth taped shut, so I pet him b/c he couldn't do anything! :)They released him back into the water.

15. That reminds me of something that happened to my brother.
This happened in Miami Springs, FL. There was a gator in the middle of the road and my brother stopped and loaded it into his car trunk. He drove to the police station and dropped it off. My brother did not have a very good relationship with the police, so after that incident, it only got worse.

14. Nah!
I am sure they could if they wanted to! But they aren't crocodiles. They are used to seeing people, not to say one wouldn't attack! For the most part, they are harmless.
