2. Let's just say I had a worse experience with Cingular...
and a better experience with Verizon.

3. I hear the same about Cingular...bad.
I have Verizon and it has good coverage. T-Mobile gets good reiviews in some parts of the country and is usable in other countries, which is appealing. Let me know if you use it and in what cities or areas.

4. I still have T-Mobile.
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 06:06 AM by mutley_r_us
My biggest complaints (aside from the fact that they tried to make me pay a deposit for my account three months after I signed up, when I was told I would not have to make a deposit) are that the coverage area sucks, my calls are dropped a lot, and I often never receive voice mails.

I've been with T-Mobile for about three years, and when my contract is up next year, I plan to go to Sprint.

edit: Oh, I'm in Maryland. Apparently coverage is better in some areas than others. Maybe post this in your state forum to see if the coverage is better in your area than it is in mine.

5. I like the pre-paid deal a lot...
No contract, no monthly charges, and you get (limited) Web access, AIM (even accesses your buddy list, and you can set it up so AIM phones you every time you get an IM), and text messaging (all of which just go against your pre-paid minutes). Free roaming; doesn't cost any more to call NYC from California, or California when I'm in NYC. Wide coverage areas.

I really like the fact that I can buy a refill card at just about any 7-11 in the country. And they finally made it so you can buy pre-paid minutes through their Web site. (They also have some sort of plan where you can activate even a pre-paid phone outside the U.S., but I haven't tried that yet.)

Caveat: Minutes expire in 60/90/365 days, depending on how many minutes you buy -- unless you buy 1,000 minutes at once, and then (I think) they roll over.

My biggest complaint is sucky live customer support. But that's to be expected just about everywhere these days, IMNSHO.

P.S. Cingular sucks. Verizon's good if you don't mind a contract, but their live support sucks too.

P.P.S. Off-topic, sort of: If you want a killer deal on pre-paid phone cards (domestic or international), I've been using prepaidcall.net for years, and LOVE them. (Couldn't afford to call Australia otherwise!) Tip: Buy an international card and use it (instead of your local phone co.'s long-distance service) for all domestic calls; it's a lot cheaper than Sprint, MCI, etc., and even cheaper in most cases than buying a pre-paid domestic card.

8. Well, not just political discussion. But, you're right
that this belongs in the lounge.

But, for the record, I use TMoblie and have no complaints.

15. Actually, it's for General Discussion, and there is another one
for Political Discussion. It's been moved, however. It must have taken valuable time for you to post your complaint.

12. I had T-Mobile for 2 years
and I really had no complaints. Coverage was good and any time I've had to deal with customer service is was relatively pain free. The only reason I switched is because I almost never use the phone so I went with a prepaid Tracfone.

14. 3 years with T-Mobile
Here in the Seattle area....great coverage, very few dropped calls if any. I know of a couple "dead zones" which are very small.
My wife was in Georgia for the past week and she had fairly crappy coverage down there, not too T-mobile friendly in them there parts I suppose.
The few times we've had to deal with customer service it has been fine, no extra charges, no bullshit really.
Unless someone comes up with something better, we'll renew with T-Mobile when our contract is up.

17. I use to love it until
they turned off my phone without notifying me because I supposedly made over $200 in calls to Maryland and they never even told me the number I claimed to be calling. I called them and they agreed to turn it on until I received a bill only to turn it back off without notifying me four times in the next two weeks. Every time I called they threw out accusations such as I was not responsible and I didn't keep track of my calls but they so generously offered to take a payment over the phone for called I never made to a number they refused to tell me. My contract with them had been over for a while so when I called to officially cancel service they tried to tack on more charges like an activation fee for every time they turned it on and then they tried to bill me for the next few months.
