Cheerleader types aren't nearly as snobby as art school chicks
Yes, this a popcorn-eating post.

I've found cheerleader-types much more friendly in normal conversation than I have artsy chicks. The latter usually only have eyes for the better-than-average looking "cool" type of guys.

But most of the art girls I know are really friendly. (And I am neither "better-than-average looking" or "cool".)

as a former "arty chick," ( now an arty mom) I have to say that the OP is incorrect and that those of us who were not cheerleaders were capable of liking all kinds of guys.

7. I don't know about misogeny.
Painting with a broad brush, sure, but it doesn't seem hateful really.

Of course, this is coming from a guy that defies most stereotypes and has been painted with nearly all of them at some point, so maybe I'm just thinking of the statement with a less serious lens.

56. stereotypes such as "all arty women are crazy"
or all cheerleaders are friendly could be seen that way. Kind of a refutation of the idea that women are so easily categorized.

Could as easily be true of sterotypes of men.

5. Having dated many and nearly married one artsy chick
Edited on Sat Nov-19-05 04:21 PM by Vash the Stampede
This is true because most of them are extremely condescending to anyone they perceive isn't "worthy" of their opinion. Most of them have an inferiority complex, usually from their families who don't think they're doing anything "valuable" with their lives and intelligence.

Still, give me an artsy chick over a cheerleader type anyday. If you crack the armor, they can be fascinating. Of course, they're also usually insane, which is why I only nearly married one.

On edit: I did not mean to imply all artsy women are like this - just basing it on my own experience, of which I have quite a bit. I apologize for the broad brush.

I meant to add an "in my experience". And having dated (meaning more than 3 dates) 6 artsy women and was recently engaged to one, my experience with all of them has been that they were all quite unbalanced. Now, I'm not stupid enough to believe that they are all like that by any means, and I'm sorry for implying that.

With all the broken hearts in the world, it's impossible for silly assumptions not to be bandied about.

Personally, I think all men AND women are flat out insane. I think the key to life is finding the one woman or man who's insanity fits in best with your own and running with it. :-)

I'm happy with the girls who are just "themselves," so to speak. I've found a lot of cheerleaders and artsy girls put on a show and pretend to be someone they aren't. I've met some who are quite real.

Being yourself. That's what's really cool.

45. Art school chicks aren't as snobby as art school guys. I should know.
And you don't even deserve the time of day from me!

48. as an artsy guy, i've found that
artsy girls only have eyes for pretentious pseudo-intellectual older men. the kind that live in coffee houses and look for young twenty somethings, hopng that they will be revered by them

84. Hmmmm...
As an artsy guy myself, I've never had a problem meeting and dating artsy women my own age. Can I give you some unsolicited advice? Don't worry about it. They seem cool and smart and fun, but sooner or later, you'll have to pretend to like their artwork.

58. (Generalized) observation:

Artsy chicks are all trying to be different; their measure of success depends upon being unique but still cool.

Cheerleaders are all trying to be the same; their measure of success depends having identically cool friends and stuff.

It's harder to be artsy. But I think it's probably more interesting and more rewarding, too.

Be careful what you wish for. Just sayin' :-)

65. Where I am...
the cheerleader-types are mean to me. The art crowd, however, is much more excepting. It must change from place to place.

Note: if you make fun of their bad music (emo, screamo, whatever) many of the artsy-chicks get upset and tend to kick you in the nadgers. The men of the art crowd could care less, though.

68. You are soooo fucking wrong
The goth types, while they might be hard to approach because of your own nerves, are extremely friendly. They don't have that pretention of being a "cheerleader", and they are quite accepting of different personalities.

Wait, I confused goth with artsy. You are sooooo fucking right! There's nothing worse than an artsy chick, who thinks their shit don't stink, and who will, if prompted, take a dump on your keyboard and call it art.

There's little worse than an artsy chick, diamonds in the rough excluded of course.

72. Whats up with goth girls?
How can they be both gothic and extremely nice and friendly? They confuse me!
