A Christmas Parade? Today???
Green Bay celebrated its Holiday parade today. Geez - I thought it was a law that had to wait until after Thanksgiving.

2. Just saw it on the news.
I hope they didn't consult the Farmer's Almanac. We might be in for a rough winter.

5. It's supposed to get to 31 tonight.
Time to move the soda in from the garage. I didn't last year, and ... well, it was messy.

14. Where's that - upstate?
Yeah, I see that happen a lot. Sometimes it's "high of 35 degrees" and at 10 am it's 40. I find it more helpful to stick my head out the window.

15. 110 miles north of New York ...
I rarely need the weather reports to tell me what's going on outside.

Have you ever noticed how the rhododendron leaves are curled in on the colder days?
Or how the birds sit around with their feathers fluffed out when it's very cold?

16. Not really... because
all the leaves are at the the city compost heap, and the only birds around here are those crazy Canada geese. Oh, and the gulls.

I'll drive by the Lake tomorrow and see what they're up to.

18. Are there any Loons around?
Rhododendrons are evergreens. You wouldn't find too many of those in a city.

Years ago I watched the trees in winter when I lived just outside NYC on Staten Island.

19. Well, I've been known to walk the neighborhood from time to time.
Winter is definately coming. It took 3 days for the snow to melt. And, I just saw my first snow-thrower commercial on TV.

I really do have to set up the heater for the birdbath, start the snowblower and the generator.

3. Toronto's Santa Claus parade is tomorrow.
But Thanksgiving is celebrated in early October in Canada and hence doesn't serve as the natural gateway into the holiday season.

Bring it on, I say. This 4:45 sunset bullshit is really bringing me down. Need some xmas cheer to fight the blues.

And if it doesn't work out, we'll just make x-mas cookies instead. :)

23. The big Christmas tree at the local
outdoor mall is already up and the lights have been turned on. That never used to happen until after Thanksgiving. The merchants must be running scared this year.
