So, I saw "Walk the Line"...
and I thought the reviews were way too kind to this movie. I have to say the performances by Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon were excellent (though I can't stand Reese's pointy chin), but the story has been done a 'brazilian' times and, IMHO, was tackled much better in last year's 'Ray.' The music also got to me; while I appreciate the genius that Johnny Cash was, the honky-tonk nature of it grew old after a while.

I found that most of the reviews have been way too generous to this movie. If I had to give out Oscars right now for best picture, I'd pick "Good Night and Good Luck" in a heartbeat over "Walk The Line." But critics seem to love this movie....

maybe it's just me.

1. Maybe I'll wait for the DVD on that one.

3. There's No Maybe For Me
Any biopic is likely for me to wait for cable. There's only a few i HAD to see during it's cinematic run. And "a few" might be generously high. Might just be two.

2. so far it has been such a SUCKY year for movies that inspite of
this movies failings it still stands head and shoulders above most of the crap so far...with the exception of "Good Night and Good Luck" and you are right "Ray" was better. Jamie Foxx was scary good.
Still, I enjoyed "Walk the Line" and agree with you that Joaquin and Reese were excellent. Snaps for doing their own singing!!!
