What is the best thing that happened in your life in the past week?
I am having a difficult time staying positive, even though I finally fixed the frickin' toilet and I finally have running water.

So I am trying to regroup and I did have something absolutely wonderful happen in my family.

My son's heavy metal band won their very first battle of the bands against some stiff competition. The emcee at the event called them "The next big thing in metal" before they played.

I have let the boy concentrate on his music, no work or college this semester, because no one ever gave me that opportunity with my music, and it has paid off for him and his band. I am so proud! I was even moshing a bit! :headbang: Heavy Metal even a mama can love!

So what happened in your week?

1. I hung out with some new friends Friday night.
The chick turned out cool, but her fiance was a psycho. But the good news is I handled his bad behavior quite well. Good thing I've dealt with anger management issues before. I'm pround I made it through the night unscathed. :)

3. An expense report I messed up is going to be paid anyway
I missed the deadline on it (that's the long-story, short), and school policy is that after 60 days, it's no longer an expense, but "income" so they were going to tax it at 40%... my boss's money. The difference was more than $650.

In the long run, it would have all come out in the wash because he could have then claimed it as a non-reimbursed business expense, but that wouldn't have happened until he filed his taxes.

Anyway, the financial office agreed to just pay it... I'm quite relieved.

I'm planning on ordering a National Geographic book that they were selling at the museum that's a companion to the exhibit (it's more than half price ordering it online - AND includes a CD that contains the audio tour).

50. .
It's an expression. One can sink one's teeth into a good book, or a new CD.

That said, yes, I do. Lightly, just enough to leave a mark.

53. Sightseeing in San Diego
Took Nini to see my first house from my babyhood, and took a look at my late grandparents' house where I spent a few summers growing up... and went by the ball diamond I played on back in the day...then went to the Zoo (so many endangered species now with a safe home), and the next day, to beautiful Point Loma, to see the old lighthouse, and absorb the panoramic view of the San Diego skyline...

It was a wonderful and all too fast weekend. :D

Glad to hear about your son's success! I am a metalhead myself.

82. Thanks Zomb!
He worked so hard on stage, the drumsticks were a blur.

And I LOVE all the kids in this band. They are so sweet to be such badass players!

And nice that you relived some of BoyZomby's childhood! :)

62. The coolest thing happened to me last week.....
Some frineds and I made this documentary movie about a campaign we ran. It started as just trying to put footage of the campaign together to tell a basic story, but the more we worked the more we saw a universal message in the story we were telling. We poured ourselves into making the film compelling enough that someday "someone might just watch it."

Last week we sold a fifty percent interest in the film to John Malkovich's production company, ParisMudd Studios. In a week we find out if it got accepted to Sundance.

So now I know for a fact that my film will be seen and hopefully may help make the world a slightly better place to live.

he thinks i'm funny. the shining bright spot in a weekend filled with the kind of rejection that makes it hard for artists to pass the open windows sometimes.

97. just for the sake of passing the time of day, the weekend
was a show of my fine art (painting and ceramics), but i also had a display of my buttons. he thought several of them were funny, and also laughed quite a bit during our conversation. i gave him a copy of an article about me in a new little zine. he writes a "man about town" kind of a column. i guess he lives kinda near my studio. maybe i'll get a mention.

93. Made my mom happy - drove two hours one way to go to church with her
took my youngest with me (great company, that one...)
Made mom's day, even if she didn't quite know who we were for about a minute or so. She's getting pretty dingy. But she was happy. So I was happy.

98. We met our (hopefully,) future brother in law
I'm thrilled for my sister in law, and so thankful that she has finally found true love. He's a really, really nice guy.

There's a little boy who lives in my town that I am absolutely enamored of. He's 15 months old, and I can't resist him. His mama is nice enough to share him with me. Today he ran into my store, threw his arms around me, and gave me a hug. :loveya:
