How many televangelist stations do you get?
Of the 36 channels currently programmed into my ca. 1975 TV set, I am at this moment picking up FOUR. And that damned (pun intended) Joel Osteen (who I always want to call Haley Joel Osment) is ON!

Dude, I am watching the Golden Girls.

1. I never stop long enough to count them...
Although every now and then I have to stare at the Tammy-Faye wannabe with the pink hair, and try to figure out whether she's a drag queen or a bona fide female.

2. Never counted them
With Sky Digital (British satelitte system) all of the channels are automatically tuned in, fortunately most of the religion channels are in a bunch together (ironically they're next to the dating channels).

I've watched the Islam Channel a few times to try and learn more about it, and sometimes for amusement watch E.W.T.N. (a Catholic one). I'd guess that there's about 10-15 of them, apart from the two named above all of various types of Evangelicalism. Some of the less popular mainstream channels carry programmes from them (such a the dreaded 700Club), these seem to be the channels aimed at the black community.

10. Indeed
When I lived in the UK, I used to enjoy watching them on the odd occasion... to remind myself why I was glad I wasn't in the USA!

8. 5 or 6
TBN, INSP, EWTN, The Word, another catholic channel, and a lot of the independent and local channels carry religious broadcasts on Sundays.

I do miss Worship.net on PAX during the overnight hours. It was non-denominational. The programming featured christian music, with videos of nature scenes, with scripture messages occasionally superimposed. When I had trouble sleeping, it was something to watch that helped me get back to sleep.

9. One-- Ernest Angely
He broadcasts on WB from nearby Akron. He took over for Rex Humbard a long time ago and has been stinking up the airways ever since. Since they own the station, they bleep out the words God, hell and damn on regular programming (but not 'felatio' as I discovered on a CSI rerun).

Regular topics on his show include:

Fake-healing. Supplicants with non-visible ailments get smacked in the head while Angely says "Jeeeeeezuss!"

White man's burden. They show films of Angely's cohorts annoying Africans with his white-devil road show.

Oral hygiene choir or the Imperial margerine hour. They have a mediocre choir and the lead singer is some shit kicker in a cheap suit and horrible teeth. In the background a giant Tudor type crown is suspended. It looks like the Imperial margerine ads from the 1970s.

Guess the toupe species. Angely was born in neolithic times and looks like an overweight Max Shreck without his hairpiece. My wife and I like to figure out what kind of animal is sleeping on his head during sermons.

13. I'm amazed no teleevangelist has said the Golden Girls are sinful!
Which would be bizarre; there are far more sinful teleevangelists than there are Golden Girls... :D
