'World's Ugliest' Dog Dies At 14

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Sam, the tiny dog whose hairless body and crooked teeth earned him a reputation as the World's Ugliest Dog, has died.

The pooch died Friday, just short of his 15th birthday, his owner said.

"I don't think there'll ever be another Sam," Susie Lockheed said, adding: "Some people would think that's a good thing."

Sam won the ugliest dog contest at the Sonoma-Marin Fair this summer for the third year in a row.

5. I saw dog and owner on Carson Dailey.
I never watch that show, but I specifically TiVo'd because this dog was going to be a guest.

What doesn't come across in the print, is that the dog was obviously suffering and the owner exploited it. The dog was totally blind, in a constant state of drooling agitation and covered with tumors. The owner would poke and startle the poor thing so it would growl, bark or try to bite the air in a futile attempt to get her to stop.

Sad.
