Turkey is gross!!
So, I'm hosting T-day this year. And I'm one of two veggies. Everyone else expects Turkey. So I'm making my first turkey this year. I'm carefully following Martha Stewart's brining and roasting recipe :-)

I just put the turkey in the brine. It was disgusting. I've washed my hands five times and I can't get the turkey stink off of me! My cat, Seamus, is all over me, he wants turkey hand loving! He's in my lap right now purring like a crazy kitty and licking my hands or putting his paws all over my hands then licking his paws.

Blech! I should have waited for Alex to get home so I could make him touch the thing. One thing is for damn sure- I ain't fucking stuffing the thing tomorrow.

4. You're a brave soul.
Much kinder than I am, too. I'd not have turkey at my house. If others expected it, I'd expect them to make it themselves.

Make sure you wash all your shit really well, too. One thing I like about not eating meat is not having to worry about scrubbing the hell outta my cutting boards and stuff, lest I get some crazy fucking mad-turkey disease.

5. My future mother-in-law is bringing all the cooking utensils for me
I'm just not set up to cook meat. I've got her roaster, a platter, a carving knife. I did, however, buy a baster for 1.99- which will promptly go in the garbage after tomorrow.

6. Lol! The first time I made a turkey, I ended up crying.
I was so repulsed by the idea of reaching into its body cavity, that I just grabbed the first thing I touched inside-- the gravy packet. I thought that was all that I had to remove. I couldn't figure out why I could hardly fit any stuffing in it, until my husband pulled it out of the oven to carve, and found all those "parts." He made vicious fun of me, and I cried.

7. You are way nicer than I
I love my family, but there's no. fucking. way. I'd roast 'em up a turkey carcass, even at thier house. Smell up my own house and germify my kitchen? :puke:

11. I'm not stuffing the turkey either!
But not because I think turkey is gross. I'm not doing it because, as Alton Brown says, "Stuffing is evil." Well...the stuffing itself isn't evil (I love stuffing), but putting it inside the bird is.

Good luck to you - I personally love turkey, but I would never expect a veggie to cook it for me. If I wanted it, and it was okay with the vegetarian host, I'd bring the turkey myself.
