Ahhh! Oprah makes me sick!!
I mentionedin the Ebert thread that I accidentally hit her fakeness' show when flipping channels. Well, right when that happened I had a phone call, so I never changed the channel, and then I get off the phone and I hear her say "When we come back, I'll finally reveal my secret Martini recipe".

AHHHHH!!!

How can you have a secret Martini recipe, you clueless shitbag?!

I don't know what the hell she's gonna make, but it won't be a fucking Martini! It' sgonna be something like an appletini or chocotini or some other non-Martini thing.

FUCK YOU OPRAH!!!!!!!

Then she adds vodka!!! The Cointreau!! (at least she didn't go Triple Sec).

FUCK YOU!

YOU WASTE OF FLESH!!!!

(not that it doesn't sound good - I think it would be, nice and tart and good - but IT'S NOT A FUCKING MARTINI!)

3. Bwuhahahah! Then she add the audacity to ask her audience
if they can tell "when they get a bad Cosmo". HA! I bet her audience has never had a proper Cosmopolitan (never a "Cosmo") to begin with, the clueless shits.

What a dumb fucking question.

11. The true joy of watching Oprah
is watching how far removed she has truly become from her demographic.

But this is one of the myriad of reasons I don't watch her anymore. She's an arrogant, pretentious, big headed, clueless, insecure idiot that now buys into her own press.

Pathetic.

Edited on Wed Nov-23-05 05:39 PM by GOPisEvil
That's a froo-froo alcohol concoction.

Oprah: a martini has gin and vermouth maybe a dash of orange bitters. GIN...not vodka.

6. Nope, orange bitters make it a not-Martini
Still tasty, but not a Martini.

I fucking wish people would learn to use the language properly, and especially learn to name things properly. ARGH!! (not you, I'm talking Oprah and the rest of her Illiterati).

People, please - there is a difference between a cocktail and a mixed drink.

Martini is a type of cocktail, not a genre.

A Gibson is made exactly like a Martini, except that it has an onion, not an olive. A Martini always has an olive.

A Martini with a lemon twist is called a "Martini With a Lemon Twist".

A Martini made with vodka is always a "Vodka Martini".

7. There are two classic martini recipes.
One has a dash of orange bitters, the other doesn't. For the record, I do not include orange bitters in my martinis, but I included it for the sake of completeness.

9. But here's the question of the day
What do you call 2 parts gin, 1 part vodka, 1/2 part dry vermouth, shaken with ice and served with an olive?

I always knew this as the "James Bond Martini" because he orders it in the book Casino Royale.

31. Well, some of us are pretty serious about our art
And that includes the art of food and drink.

If we're gonna drink something, or eat something, we make it something of quality and do it right. Or we don't do it. You'll find many of us here on DU who would rather have no beer than drink a shitty beer; or no wine rather than a shitty wine; etc. I hope you are of this group!

And welcome to DU! :hi:

33. A REAL billboard I saw tonight
Edited on Wed Nov-23-05 11:57 PM by ZombyWoof
There is a billboard nearby that UPDATES EVERY DAY what her NEXT show will be about.

I wish I had a picture of the one tonight. It said "I am a METH ADDICT!", right next to her egotistical smiling picture.

She in beyond narcissistic. Her magazine with her picture every issue, her tantrum in Paris because they wouldn't open a fancy store for her afterhours... her inability to laugh at herself. She is wretched.

My theory is that this all began when she started hanging with Marianne Williamson. That was a sure sign of disease.

38. She of the phony hugs
On that Katrina special (a train wreck we couldn't avert), her body language was chilling. This woman who lost her home was in dire emotional straits and just needed a shoulder to cry and vent on, and a hug. Oprah gave her one of those phony high school popular in-crowd hugs, and quickly, I mean QUICKLY pushed her away. She looked put-off, like she couldn't really be bothered with such a genuine outburst of emotion.

Nini and I will never forget that. We always both hated Oprah, but that vindicated us.

True charity is anonymous, or it isn't charity. Not one, NOT ONE, of the "good deeds" she has done is a good deed, because it was negated by the narcissistic PR that went with it. That's a damn shame. It is like emotional rape.

40. This post is priceless--
I didn't see the moment you speak of, ZombyWoof--I only saw about 15 mins. of the Katrina show (by choice--lol). But I have seen the action you speak of with her before--the really fake moment of empathy/compassion.

She also has a really weird thing about people sitting in 'her place on that couch.' She becomes completely unhinged when people do that.

Thank you for saying this--

Quote:
True charity is anonymous, or it isn't charity.

People (on these boards, in life, etc.) go on and on ad nauseum about all the 'good work' she does--as if she should be somehow immune to criticisms like the ones on this thread. It's rare that I see others state what you just did. It's like we are all supposed to never speak ill of her because she pubilicly, loudly and obviously donates to charities.

:hi:

But maybe she has also done some charity which IS anonymous. You wouldn't know about it then, right?

45. It's not in her nature
A narcissist like her, with a pathological need for approval and fawning, is INCAPABLE of anonymous giving. So it's moot that we could "know about it". There is no there, there.

There is no way she could reconcile anonymous giving with her nature. It would be like Bush admitting he was wrong about the occupation of Iraq.
