Poll question: Do You Have The Guts To Change Your Username To Your Real Name?
Following in the lead of Khephra, I was wondering if any other DUers had the guts to change their username to their real name?

I'm not asking WILL YOU, but rather, do you have the guts to, if, say, someone dared you for $500. :D

9. You going to pay me $500 to do it?
I'd have to think about it.

There are 2 people here at DU who know my real name...
Plus based on a couple of old posts (from 2002), I gave my first name in one and my last name in the other.

Find them if you're that curious.

10. None of the above.
But it's because I work for an organization that's studiously apolitical, and I would feel like I was doing them a disservice having my name plastered all over a clearly partisan political site. It also might get me fired, and in this economy, I can't take chances on it.

If I didn't have them to consider, I would -- I used to have my whole name in my profile, but I took it out when I started working for them. If that situation changes, I'll probably put it back in my profile again.

19. When I first went onto a political board and got death threats
for posting about the Bush-Nazi history

the lives of my wife and children were brutally threatened and I was harassed and intimidated.

I called the FBI and my Congressman (whom I know).

I also emailed John Loftus (whom I had interviewed on the radio)

I am convinced it is private military contractors working for Bush and the BFEE who do these things

but private and lone loonies may well also be inclined to harass and threaten.

So I will not likely disclose my name until I need to when my book comes out (hopefully this spring) in order to hopefully get your support.

But I WISH I could come out today and speak out against these crimes. I have in other public forums and have even on the rdio.

But this is a high profile site with high profile and ruthless opposition.

I will come out here as me. I can't wait to.

But for now I must wait. I fear for my family and I think only by having a BIG opening will I get any cover.

Interesting question. Glad you asked and more power to Khephra!

I wish I had a different sn in retrospect though then again, people know me easier and shit so its ok I guess but heres my alias if you wanna see it, Dragoljub Djordjevic. I got bored one day with a friend and she made up a fake name for me, and the funny thing is Dragoljub IIRC isnt a real name but Djordjevic is, and btw its Serbian, which I personally am not but once thought I was. So yes this is my real name, theres time when I think I should have used a different sn, and others when I am happy I used my real sn, ps I am not really creative, thats why. Its kinda funny in a way, everyone knows my name and shit but I only know some people's first names and these are my better friends here whos first names I know, yet I dont know their last names either, so a lot of people call me Kleeb.
BTW people for future reference, dont call me by whole name, just a pet peeve, either Kleeb or John or even that alias I show above would be nice, or if you can make up another alias for me and use that, that would be nice too.
Kleeb.

30. my "piece sine" pre-dates DU
at first, it was a parody of a nom-de-plume that I conjured up at a rowdy dinner-table. Nothing more than a wise crack about corrupted capitalism meshed with the artwork on the album cover of Pink Floyd's classic "Dark Side of the Moon.." A ray coming in at a different angle.

So the nick-name stuck, and resurfaces whenever my ol' college friends that I still hang with drop-by for some port, a cigar and other pleasant smokes. Ol' "piece sine" snaps back into the vernacular.

I then discover DU last summer and I figure, why not recycle? So "piece sine" has a wide and weird window in cyberspace.

I'm not going give that up for 500 bucks!

Do I hear $750?

71. Hah, I see your real name and raise you a home town....
Of course, if you can find me in Jackson Hole, even knowing that I live in Wilson, you're doing darn good. People who know where I live can't find where I live!

72. I couldn't vote.
No option for 'my username is already my real name'. Where's my $500!

And a lot of others here deserve that $500 as well.

:D

73. Do you really think I would reveal my real name?
My username shows that I value my privacy.

75. My user name IS my real name
My name is Geni - and it's pronounced Jeannie, as in I Dream Of - P. H-----. I'm not tremendously imaginative with regard to usernames.
