I don't mean to start a flame war, but
home made peanut butter defeats store bought hands down.

I just made a PB&J on fresh rye bread with my own home made peanut butter and some of my 5 or 6 berry jam.

Yum.

12. I usually just
shell & roast about 4 cups of peanuts, 2-3 tablespoons peanut oil, 2 tablespoons honey, a teaspoon of salt, and throw it in a food processor.

The jam is a little more complicated, though I found sometimes the PB takes a little messing around with to get it right.

Grow the wheat, grind it in to flour, raise the chickens and harvest the eggs, grow the sugar cane or beets and process them, etc etc etc?

19. That reminds me of something my brother said to my mom when
we were kids. She said she had just made some bread...homemade...and my too-smart-for-his-own-good-and-lacking-in-common-sense brother said,"Did you grow and thresh the wheat?" :hi:

7. I can buy all-natural peanut butter, and I'm lazy.
So, I look for peanut butter with an ingredient list that reads as follows:

Peanuts, salt.

I could make it myself, but I can buy exactly what you describe. :)

18. True, but I don't believe it is necessary to list peanuts as roasted.
The label on the peanut butter in my fridge now mentions the peanuts are dry roasted, but I've eaten other peanut butter which does not mention roasted peanuts.

peanut butter, but never liked my mom's homemade either because she put wheat germ in it and the oil never seemed mixed in enough. :hi:
