I want to meet someone
You know... a romantic interest.

I want HIM to be

- fairly attractive (he doesn't have to be an Adonnis, but he does have to be pleasant enough to look at)

- warm

- intelligent

- hard-working, but not an workaholic

- an active person (no couch potato)

- enjoy the occasional touch of the ridiculous

- able to laugh at himself from time to time

- single

- heterosexual

- liberal

- disease-free

- willing to take time to get to know me

So, is this too much to ask? Anybody got any ideas where I can find this guy....

5. you described pretty much described me
although I am a touch over my fighting weight due to an injury that preventing me from working out for a while, but now I am back hitting the gym again. Other than that.....

Fairly attractive... well I've never broken any cameras or mirrors and women and small children do not flee when they see me, so I guess I'm ok. :)

I do laugh at myself constantly, is that too much?

Other than the flu I just got over, I'm pretty good on the no disease thing too.

What if I enjoy the ridiculous more than occasionally? That's not a strike against me right?

I think I am a total genius... does that count as "intelligent"? :)

BTW, a few of my hobbies are (no lie) politics, cooking and karaoke. :)

You might have to fight SouthlandShari and fresianrider for me though. That's the downside. :)

6. Maybe not tons, but some.
Libraries and bookstores, stake out the sections that interest you and don't be afraid to strike up a conversation.

Conversation boards like DU, but you already figured that out! ;)
Other boards with specific themes or about common hobbies are a good start, the more esoteric the better.

OK-cupid is fun, just for all the quizzes! And remember you can delete less than flattering quiz results.

Forget bars, unless your primary objective is sex.

I used to recommend church, but not so much anymore.

Do you already have or want kids? Kid related activities offer opportunities to meet single fathers.

Seems most people meet at work these days. Watch for sociopaths, meet their friends and see what they think of him, how does he treat them?

Hope this helps!

7. Well...
- fairly attractive (he doesn't have to be an Adonnis, but he does have to be pleasant enough to look at)

A recovering couch potato myself, I ain't perfect. But even I can say I am no means hideous either. Well, probably... you won't see me on "Hot or Not" anytime soon...

- warm

Probably.

- intelligent

I like to think so. O8)

- hard-working, but not an workaholic

Usually.

- an active person (no couch potato)

See above.

- enjoy the occasional touch of the ridiculous

I'm ridiculous all the time!

- able to laugh at himself from time to time

My dear, self-depreciating jokes are my bread and butter! (and my raspberry jam too... :9 )

- single

Eternally.

- heterosexual

Well... maaaaaaaaaaaaybe bi-curious, but I doubt it. Probably more desperate than anything. :7

- liberal

Obviously. :7

- disease-free

No STDs but I do have ADD and take Strattera for it...

- willing to take time to get to know me

I may have Asperger's Syndrome, but I do at least try despite my terminal flaws. That can't be said for many normal men, sadly...

12. Don't go back Hypno! It's dark and scary, and someone might lock the door!
Of course Woody Allen did say that being bi immediately doubled your chances of getting a date on Saturday night. Just avoid that whole Mia Farrow, Soon-Yi Previn thing and you should be fine. :hi:

27. It feels so odd to hear that
You see... I was always the one that had to lose weight in order to seem attractive to anyone else.

Weight isn't the benchmark of activity. A big person can be an active person. And yes, a big person can most certainly be attractive.

28. This is not a coincidence because you & I share a birthdate, MissMillie
I was thinking just last night I should articulate what I want to the universe if I expect it to manifest.

And here you've gone and done exactly that. Bravo, and well done. :loveya:

33. You just did! I believe that's part of how it works. You can't get what
you don't ask for, anyway.

Which is why a well-articulated list like yours is proper, because you need to be very careful about what you ask for, and what you will do with what you get in case it's not what you asked for.

That's why I've been :hide: ing. I don't have a very clear picture about what I want, so I project "leave me alone"ness, and scan for wedding rings - which I avoid. I think we're having a Jupiter/Uranus hookup moment, or Saturn in Leo. And maybe it's the holidays? :D

So, good for you & go out and get some, or your groove back, or something else entirely.

I hope you get what you ask for, and go for it.
