Any one familiar with the Americans with Disabilities Act?
Specifically how it would relate to someone with a learning disability or ADD?

I understand that any advice is the opinion and the interpretation of the poster and it is not the "final word". I'm just trying to get a handle on my situation.

Thanks.

1. Check with a free legal advice line.
Most states have them. I think that the right answer is that it depends upon what the accomodations are for and whether it is a documented case.

2. probably Educational Legal Foundation in your state
or an educational advocate in your county/municipality.

3. The ADA can be complicated, so I would agree with
consulting a legal advice line, or getting a free consult with an attorney who specializes in the ADA. I deal with it quite a bit in my job, but primarily as it relates to people with limitations caused by work injuries, not learning disabilities or ADD.

4. If it is releated to public education
you may be barking up the wrong tree: These are the acts that relate to that:

Public Law 94-142

Section 504 of the Education of the Handicapped Act

Individuals with Disablities in Education Act of 1997

5. Thanks
I'm being railroaded out of a job because it took me longer to learn than some others would. After I accepted the job, I finally got a diagnosis of Adult ADD and the meds have helped tremendously. I can now concentrate for hours. But, before the diagnosis, I made mistakes that they didn't like. All could be fixed, but the powers that be didn't want to be bothered. I disclosed my diagnosis but was given 30 days to leave. I guess they thought they were being kind? Last month I made one mistake during the two-week month end close. Too little too late for them.

I'm not sure if I should resign (as they're asking) and exit quietly or be fired. I don't know how either would affect my ability to draw unemployment and what, if any part, the ADA plays in this mess.

I don't like the job. I find it terribly monotonous, but I don't want to leave one job before I have another and I have a daughter in college and no savings. Right before the holidays too. This really sucks.

6. I can't believe I posted all this
I'm normally a very private person and prefer to "suffer in silence". I'm not a martyr-type, I just don't make much public.

I've contacted HR here. In a company this large, there has to be SOMETHING I can do that will benefit the company and keep me employed.
