Share some of life's little annoyances
Edited on Mon Nov-28-05 02:26 AM by qnr
I'll go first.

I hate having an "Aha! moment" (like after I've been trying to remember where I've seen an actor/actress before, for hours (yeah, my personal life is pretty lame)) and then there is no one around to share it with.

Edit: Or, as another example - when I finally figure out what "DH" is without resorting to the DU glossary.

17. I've never run across that one personally, but I've read about it,
and I'd feel the same way. I did see a "Support our troops and our President" the other day, and I started gnashing my teeth.

7. It sucks when people discount your accomplishments or things that are
important to you. If they respect you they should at least have the decency to share in your joy, if only on a limited level. Blank stares, disinterested reponses and the like only serve to damage the self-esteem of the other party.

14. Precisely. Won't even get that here for a few days, had an argument
with mine, and we're in the "'Excuse me so I can get to the stove' but otherwise I'm not talking to you" stage. Ugh.

I love librarians, in general - but there a quite a few that annoy me individually, now that you mention it.

19. audio levels on rented movies and white subtitles
Drives me NUTS! I have to jack up the volume just to hear the dialog but when the music starts, I have to rush to the remote to turn the sound down because it's extremely loud.

I also hate it when white subtitles are used when there's a white background. Who thinks that is a good idea?

Control at all? Or do they just do it deliberately?

20. Tailgaters.
I ALWAYS do the speed limit, and 95% of the time I am in the slow lane, only getting in the fast lane to turn off. If you don't want to do the posted speed limit, get into one of the other lanes, bu t get off my a** sh**head! It makes me mad when you tailgate me; YOU ARE TRYING TO KILL ME!

I almost had a tailgater kill himself. He was on my a** for two or three miles. It was THE iciest conditions that I have EVER seen. I was on a major road here (66). Traffic was LIGHT! there was plenty of room to pass, but he just kept on me for three or four exits, as I got madder and madder. I was already doing an insane speed (50, on a 55 road) for the conditions, and as usual I was in the slow lane (of FOUR lanes going our direction!). This sh** was about 10 feet from my rear end in icy conditions at 50mph! The final straw was when he FLASHED HIS LIGHTS at me! What the H*** could that mean, except that he wanted me to GO FASTER than my already life-endangering speed in icy conditions.
Well, I tapped my brakes, which under the conditions was akin to slamming them on in normal weather. He DID slam his on, and fishtailed badly several times, and almost hit the deathwall (jersey walls). The last that I saw of him, he was going VERY slowly (yeah, you noticed a**hole, its VERY ICY out) on the shoulder. Eventually, just before I disappeared over the horizon, I saw him pull out right in front of someone going much faster than he was in the slow lane.
It was VERY satisfying to almost kill someone trying to kill me. Maybe he learned a little lesson about tailgating. I hope he sh** himself when he almost hit the deathwall. I am not at all sorry about my actions!

22. Man, I hate that. I can't believe that people actually argue with you
when you talk about this (which has happened to me). If I am in the slow lane, doing the speed limit, get off my a**. Pass me already, that's what the passing lane is for. And why the ..-./..-/-.-./-.- can't people learn to keep to a speed appropriate to the conditions?

25. You and I may be the only ones
who agree on this...
but for those who like to speed, PASS ME, don't tailgate me! I NEVER speed up because you are tailgating me! I just sometimes do dangerous things like putting my brakes on because you are...

21. Telemarketers ....
particularly from Oppenheimer! They ask for my husband and then hang up on me when I ask who's calling. I'm on the national and state do not call lists and just about ready to file a complaint. How annoying!

27. I even get them on my cell phone!
Not Oppenheimer, but the "free vacation" ones. My cell phone company won't do anything about it, so at least I registered all my phones on the national do not call list.

At least with caller ID, I can call back and see who they are -- sometimes it just tells me the city.

29. I think those oversized SUVs should have their own parking lot area
Nothing sucks more than trying to back out my little Toyota when I'm stuck between 2 SUVs (and normally I wouldn't take the space if one was available between 2 large SUVs.)

So you're backing out but you can't see squat coming from either direction because these Penile Replacement Vehicles are blocking your view.

I say give them their own parking section. Hell they can even be up front because those fatasses who own those things are probably the type to drive around forever until they find a space right up next to the store. Me, I don't mind walking a few extra feet if it means I get a parking spot right away

30. Hear, hear! I know just what you mean. And I live in a right turn on
red state. When they are in the left turn/straight lane, why the heck do they have to pull all the way out, where their front end is inches from the passing traffic, keeping me from seeing what is approaching?
