5. Oh, they're not open yet
There is still a lot of devastation from hurricanes Emily and Wilma in the area. We just flew into the Cancun airport, and our resort was about an hour south of there, closer to Playa del Carmen.

Many things aren't open and there's a ton of rebuilding going on. Cancun's main strip was wiped out, and only several of the resorts farther south are open yet.

6. Which resort? I honeymooned in Playacar myself.
And we partied like it was 1999 (which it was, of course).

10. Aventura Spa Palace
It was the most wonderful place I have ever stayed. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.

18. we stayed at the Allegro Playacar
It was good, but some of the resorts nearby seemed a little nicer.

Food was excellent, the all-inclusive was nice. All you could drink! %^)

We took side trips to Chichen Itza and Tolum and Xcaret.
