Studs Terkel
I am reading Studs Terkel's new book, HOPE DIES LAST. As I expected, it is absolutely wonderful. I suggest this book to all of my friends at DU. No one captures the American spirit better than Studs Terkel.

agreed on Studs; a real National treasure.

i just put on some Mahalia Jackson. i've enjoyed hearing Studs speak of their friendship. Hard for me not to think of Mahalia without thinking of Studs and vice versa.
