1. How is the upgrade?
My brother discovered Mozilla about a year or two ago and put it on our computer and we love it! I use it all the time. I love the tabs and how I don't have to have a million window's open and keeps pop-ups away. :D

6. Trying it now...
It's got improved popup blocking, for one thing--and I just tried on one site with a popup that was dodging the previous version. Not any more! :toast:

I love Firefox.

Thanks for the tip.......

5. 90% of your extensions probably won't work, so I'm waiting for awhile.
But have at it, and let us know.

21. Embedded Windows Media doesn't work
As well as the ActiveX plugin. I just tested it.

It also hosed my 1.0.7 version and I can't get it to run even after a reinstall.

Very very bad news. Don't install it yet.

24. Well, an hour later and I have my old version working again
I have to have it working because I develop for Firefox and IE.

What a nightmare! Rollback is not easy.. I had to uninstall everything and reinstall all my extensions. Uninstall and system restore didn't work at all.

If you like embedded media, I wouldn't suggest installing 1.5, stick with 1.0.7. Fair warning.

27. That's why I'm waiting. My wife (who reads all the tech boards)
said that people were having a lot of trouble with the beta version. The bugs will get worked out, smarter people than me will figure it out.

Sorry you had to go through all that.

:(:

14. 1.5 has been in beta for a while so most *should* already have
updates ready...just need to update the links on the extensions page. Try emailing the developer and see if you can't get them to send you the install file...I've done that.

12. Yes. Mac and Windows versions are always released together.
Unless there's a Windows-specific security flaw, I believe.

10. Why do I want this?
I haven't a clue what Firefox is all about. I'm Mac OS X version 10.3.9.

11. The Mac version sucks, IMHO. Its interface feels way more sluggish
than its Windows counterpart, and just doesn't look right on a Mac. Besides, there's no real security flaws on the Mac side like there is with IE on Windows, so using Firefox isn't a big deal (unless you like the extensions...I do.)

16. I use it on a Mac
I don't have any problems whatsoever with speed and it looks beautiful to me. It's IE for Mac that's sick-makingly horrible and I wouldn't touch it with a stick. I also use Firefox on my pc laptop, so I think I would be aware of major distinctions.

Just saying maybe different people are having different experiences with Firefox on Mac and Mac users shouldn't be discouraged, but should give it a whirl and see how it works. :hi:

22. Oh I use both Firefox and Safari (Firefox when I need its extensions).
I guess sluggish isn't the right word. But it doesn't feel as...."light" I guess is the best word. Streamlined? I don't know, but that's the difference I notice when using on my PC vs. my PowerBook.

IE for Mac? Heh, I think it's pure crap....something Bush would use! :) I keep it around in case I run into one of those stupid embedded PowerPoint presentations.

Just under 5 megabytes. Their server seems to be handling the downloads with no problems.

25. Just did
5.1M download, not bad, even on dial up.

The only reason I had hung on to IE was for Outlook Express, which seems to have broken yesterday (it hangs indefinitely). I'll use Firefox and Thunderbird (Mozilla's e-mail application) exclusively now.

And I still prefer the "feel" of my old Mozilla (1.4). I like Firefox fine on Windows, but on the Mac, it just doesn't look and feel like a Mac app.

29. You can download a new skin called iFox that makes it look very Mac like
They also have Camino which is a hybrid of the Mozilla and Apple. it looks and feels more Mac like. Unfortunately, Camino is usually the last updated. i like Safari but use Firefox at work instead of Exploder.
