Poll question: Which 'Lord Of The Rings' Character Do You Most Identify With?
You've probably seen the movie a million times. When you watch it, which character do you most identify with.

Or rather, if you actually lived in Tolkien's fantasy world, which character would you like to be?

2. Arwen is beautiful, wise, gets to have the man
and live forever! And has to do no fighting.

After that I would say I'd like to be one of the female Ents who are hiding out who knows where. Those male Ents are so cute!

4. You really needed to include Eowyn...
for us girls. Never met a girl who wouldn't rather be her than Arwen. She gets to kick Nazgul butt. :-)

14. Yup...
and it drives me nuts. I want very much to like Eowyn cause she does kick ass. I just get mad at Tolkien for falling prey to the "exceptional woman" idea. It's ok to have one extraordinary woman in the fight but he couldn't conceive of a world where women might actually fight along-side their men as a matter of course. I mean really - there's no way in hell they'd get me to hide in a cave while my daddy or my little brother was out risking his life.

And the Arwen in the books is essentially useless. She's a cipher. We learn practically nothing about her except that she's beautiful and that Aragorn loves her. I much prefer the movie Arwen. But Eowyn could still kick her ass.

6. Why would you bother with Arwen when Eowyn's around.
Eowyn officially the hottie of the Golden Hall.

because it's more natural for me to fight for a person, to defend a friend then it is for me to fight for an abstract, like saving the world. the former comes naturally while the later would require angst and self-doubt.

9. I identify with the character of 12-year-old FunBobby
who looked at the cover of The Hobbit and thought "If I read these books I will never ever get inside a woman."

That said, I have really enjoyed the films. I'm just afraid the curse of trilogies will lord over it and in the climatic battle Ewoks will appear on the battlefield.

I sometimes feel like Golem when my wife is not in the mood for sex. "Give me my prec--ussssss."

11. ...
"If I read these books I will never ever get inside a woman."

My fiancee has read the trilogy repeatedly since he was an adolescent, and he had to fight the ladies off with a stick back in the day. Guess your theory's wrong!

13. That Smeigel guy
I have been crawling around on all fours in the attic doing repairs, electrical wiring, and installing installation for months now. Every time I come back to the scuttle I want to start talking like him.
