Incredibly Sad...18 year old Single Dad gunned down.
Edited on Wed Nov-30-05 02:52 PM by MrsGrumpy
Here's a kid trying to do right by his daughter only to be take from her. It's a sick world. Sorry to be a downer, but the original article in People magazine was so uplifting and so many people were inspired to help.

The Philadelphia 76'ers had invited them to a game and his daughter's birthday was Nov. 27th...it really angers me. It really is an illustration of what a nation we live in. :( The child's mother had even said he was an amazing dad, never a troublemaker.

6. Mine too. The original story was so good. This kid was nothing
special doing special things. I cannot imagine the pain.

4. They showed her birthday party on the local news this weekend
The family is trying to carry on for her sake, but the dear little girl looked so confused - I might be projecting, but I would swear she was looking around for her Daddy.

I've had this debate with gun nuts - and I want their honest opinion about what to do about gun violence that has been taking out a lot of innocent bystanders in our city (we just lost a high school senior honor student, who cops believe was gunned down by a gang in a case of "mistaken identity").

Guns are fine if you're living in Tombstone Arizona, or East Bumfuck PA, but they are killing our young people in our cities.

Why can't we find a middle ground that lets hunters hunt, lets responsible people keep a gun in their home to keep themselves safe, and yet still makes SOME effort to get guns off of city streets?

7. There's a followup article in this week's People and it's heartbreaking.
She keeps telling her Grandma that her Daddy's coming to get her, and her grandma has to keep telling her no.

9. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD?
This story breaks my heart. I pray that the killer(s) are found swiftly and tried for this horrid crime.
