Mr. Wonderful and myself got some news today that
we've been dreading.

One of our oldest and dearest friends died in Ireland today after a 10 year long fight with HIV/Aids.

For Kieran:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

We will miss you!!!

4. Sad when loved ones go.
If you want to be with him during his time of transition, just think about being with him where he is. You may see light or feel some sensations. There will be peace there for you to be with. It may last only a few days before it moves on. You can connect with your friend as you would wish during this time.

7. For your dear friend...
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day,
Nothing gold can stay.

-Robert Frost

20 years fter my first ever funeral experience, I remember every word of that poem. My best to you in your time of grieving.

10. Thanks everyone, the hugs and good thoughts do help.
The last time Mr. Wonderful and myself saw Kieran was in May. He was extremely thin but his mind and wit were as sharp as ever.

We spent a great day with him and his lovely wife. We had a brilliant time reminiscing about the "old days" and laughing about all the stupid and crazy things we had done.

Kieran picked my brain for about an hour about what the hell is going on "over there". He lived here from 1978 until 1995 and still considered Chicago his second home. He was totally appalled that Chimpy had won re-election and we also had some good laughs at the expense of some of his "fundy" relatives.

R.I.P. and may perpetual light shine upon him.

11. So sorry to hear that
The Irish Blessing was one of my cousin <G's> favorite verses. It is on his panel in the NAMES project AIDS memorial quilt.

I am crying right now.

12. I'm so sorry to hear that
 Losing a friend always hurts so much, even when you know it is coming. We sang that song for a friend we lost in high school... a beautiful tribute.

15. I am sorry to hear this

And it is shameful that we as a nation are doing so little to combat HIV/AIDS. If we put forth half the money and effort towards AIDS research that we have the Iraq war we'd probably be close to a cure by now. :-(
