They charge us to drive through their state, we should charge them entry into ours, especially considering the damage they do to us and how much it costs to pick up their trash.

I also think the troopers should concentrate much more on stopping the radically out of control IL drivers. I know it's a kind of racial profiling (in a sense), but for pities' sake when are we gonna re-claim our roads as our own and cease tolerating the bullshit?

And I agree. I can't tell you how many times I'm flying down I-43 between 70-75 mph, and some asshole in a CADILLAC or LEXUS SUV passes me, going at least 90 mph.

I've been to door, and I can't say it thrilled me all that much. The fish boils are just nasty (Yeah--BOILED fish with soggy corn on the cob and overdone onions and spuds--THAT is a real freaking treat. I really thought the gallon of BUTTER dumped over it all was a nice touch, BTW.)

I also have GOT to ask this--who the fuck ever told anyone up there that Cherries make good wine? Gawd, that shit is nasty. And WHAT is the deal with all that nick-nack shit you are trying to pass off as "art"? Frankly a chamber pot with a fucking lighthouse jammed in it just isn't high art, neither is an "Ephraim is for lovers" poster.

Oh--and WTF is UP with the Packers this year?

PS: In truth, I have most happy memories of Madison and Black Earth. I still have friends up there and want to get back up again sometime. Do you Wisconsin folks ever have gatherings?

Fish Boils are nasty. Didn't you know: Door County and the Dells aren't visited by Wisconsinners.... they're FIB traps. ;)

Gawd. I honestly have no idea how you guys DEAL with it. All joking aside, we actually went to Door about 10 years ago and I was amazed and horrified--and we were there before the "season." I would imagine it has only gotten worse. I enjoyed hiking on the lakefront, but i was seriously ready to leave the traffic and money grubbers behind.

I did have a wonderful time talking football in Green Bay on the way home, however, and I was most impressed with the folks I met. They managed to forgive me for my "FIBness" after a beer or two, and I managed to forgive them for being Packer Backers.

All in all, however, I did leave my heart over in Black Earth/Mt. Horeb area. That is some lovely country, but it seemed seriously politically split between the uber-conservatives and the leftover hippies. An amazing place, but I could NEVER deal with all that snow on those hilly roads...
