Addictive television shows.
I have a current favorite television show I'm really hooked on. But, sadly for me, it's Canadian.

It's "Train 48". My Canadian boyfriend has been taping it for me. I love that show. The show takes place entirely on a train...I didn't know if that concept could work, but it does. The characters on the show are interesting. And the cast members do a lot of improvisation on the show.

I know "Train 48" is a soap. But boy is it a terrific show. I only wish a cable channel like Bravo could import it down here.

6. I finally quit recording this
It's on about 20 times per week, and I've been recording them all. I've seen every episode at least twice now.

Jeez, I need a life! :freak:

But I'm watching it in Canada on Showcase, and we've just finished Season 1, so no spoilers, OK? Wonderful, amazing show.

5. "Faking It"
on BBC America. I love this show. They take ordinary people with little lives and pass them off as members of the nobility, great chefs, equestrians, etc, It makes for great television. It really questions what is fake about society.

13. An American version
Edited on Fri Nov-21-03 01:53 PM by FunBobbyMucha
has aired a few times after Trading Spaces. Interestingly, it's stuff like a Yale bookworm being turned into an Atlanta Falcons cheerleader! Compare and contrast with the Brit version at your peril.

14. Someone with thread starting powers please!
Start a seperate thread about favorite Simpsons eps! Mine, hands down, is "Bart Sells His Soul." For the phrase "Spagetti and MoeBalls" alone. "Run, Boy! Run for your life!"

I think my favorite is the one where Bart creates "Angry Dad" on the Internet. Very funny episode.

Yeah...a Best of Simpsons deserves its own thread.

A great Canadian show. Met him once. And remember - if the women can't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. I'm a man, but I can change, if I have to, I guess. Keep your stick on the ice!

20. Definitely The Simpsons
Edited on Fri Nov-21-03 09:17 PM by mvd
Gives me my weekly laughter. Would not want to be without it. I know it's a soap, but I also like Young And The Restless. Best soap, IMO, and as people have seen, I have crushes from it..

Also am starting to watch Joan Of Arcadia. I forgot to put Amber Tamblyn on my last crush list, along with Lake Bell and Michelle Branch. I'll wait until the topic comes up again to make a new list, as I think people now have an idea of who I like. I think Amber is likely to be a Democrat because she's a big Ani DiFranco fan. At first I thought Joan Of Arcadia might appeal more to females based on the ratings, but Amber's a good actress, too, and I enjoy the show.

A guilty pleasure is Big Brother.

Almost all of them. I'll be sitting there and one will come on and I'm like "Oh, these are so stupid," yet I will sit there for another hour or half hour, however long it takes and watch the damn thing. Then I wonder what will happen next week after its over. Scary!

38. My Hero and Dead Ringers (BBC)
Edited on Sat Nov-22-03 09:31 AM by cosmicdot
My Hero ...

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's health-food store owner George Sunday (Ardal O'Hanlon, Father Ted) - better known as the world's most famous superhero, Thermoman. Not being very familiar with Earth's customs, Thermoman is often embarassingly honest and tends to take everything too literally. When he falls in love with nurse Janet Dawkins (Emily Joyce), his behavior appears most peculiar to her family and co-workers.

Thermoman met Janet when he rescued her from the Grand Canyon, but since his mission to save the world from destruction often comes in the way of his earthly romance. Day-to-day, the couple has to overcome the conflicts that arise from Thermoman's double life. Did Janet really have to put his suit in the wash on the day when an abandoned space station was on course to destroy a small town? Should George stay for lunch with Janet's parents or fly off to stop an erupting volcano? Will George's life be worth living if he flies off?

Even Thermoman can't be in two places at once, and his continually diappearing in and out of the bathroom in Janet's tiny suburban apartment or at the surgery where she works is not easy to explain.

BBC America Wednesdays at 9 pm/et, 6 and 9 pm/pt

****************

Dead Ringers ...
Saturdays at 11 pm/et, 8 pm/pt

No public figure is safe. No topic taboo. From a talented team of impersonators, Dead Ringers takes satirical digs at everything from the newsworthy to the naughty. George Bush, Tony Blair, Saddam Hussein, the Queen, Elton John, Ozzy Osbourne, Russell Crowe and more... all are treated with equal irreverence.
