Is $485 Too Much To Spend For A Blow Job From A Crew Of Five Men?

HA! Made you look! Silly... I'm not talking about THAT kind of blow job.

I'm talking about having a lawn maintenance company stop by with their LEAF blowers to BLOW my entire lawn... SUCK up all the leaves, and to remove the fallen branches.

At first, it sounded expensive when the crew foreman gave me the quote on the phone, so I stalled him and said I'd call him back.

While I was mulling-over his price, I went out and looked at how friggin' HUGE our yard is... and those DAMP, WET and STICKY leaves. Then I started thinking about how LONG it would take me to do it by myself, and how HARD I'd have to work.

The decision was easy... I hired them.

6. We're Sitting On .97 Acres...
... that's POINT-nine-seven acres. About 1/4 of it is wooded, and then there's the space that's taken up by the house and the garage. So, that would leave about 1/2 acre that I'd have to rake... and rake... and bag... and haul to the curb.

No thank you.

I really enjoy working outside in the spring and summer. Mowing, weeding, planting, trimming... all fun stuff. But raking leaves really SUCKS!

5. That was a goddamn clever title.
It's not that much money; if you figure two hours for them to do the job, that's $50 / hour / guy, and that's not a lot considering the LARGE amount of overhead a landscaping company has for equipment, maintenance, insurance, etc (my brother owns one).

7. Yes, you're paying way too much
At least at where I live that would be considered highway robbery, I don't care how big your lawn is. Why not just let the leaves be? Let them decompose and enrich your soil? Your lawn will be oh so much more green next spring because of it. And hey, with all of those leaves around, you might get lucky and have some morel mushrooms sprout up in April, yum yum!
