We have the monopoly on cold, desolate, underpopulated places, y'know.

2. No, you have no monopoly on cold, desolate, underpopulated places
The Russians own Siberia, just across the Berring Straight from Alaska. That is how the Russaians came to acquire it in the first place. And they sold it to the US in 1867.

not that you dont have your own production and all, but I think it would take more than a torch passing ceremony to get Alaska.

Speaking of cold, desolate underpopulated places, is that Game really going to happen in Edmonton?

I can't believe its not available for broadcast in the US.

8. Want the U.P. of Michigan, too?
It's cold, desolate and underpopulated. Home of 3 wonderful public univeristies, the tallest wooden ski jump in the world, Tahquemenon Falls and "Legend of the Fall" novelist Jim Harrison.

And Canada just seems like a much cooler place than America right now.

10. Alaska and Canada
"The posts set up on the passes by the Mounties were effective in the short term - the provisional boundary was accepted, if grudgingly. In September 1898, serious negotiations began in Quebec City between the United States and Canada, to settle the issue beyond further dispute. Those meetings failed, and Great Britain was finally brought in as part of a six-man tribunal. The American representatives were Elihu Root, Henry Cabot Lodge and Arthur Turner; Sir Louis Jetté and Sir Alan Silverstone represented Canada, and Lord Alverstone was the British representative.

The exact meaning of the wording of the 1825 agreement was what had to be decided upon. The final decision of the tribunal was in the United States' favour; Lord Alverstone had voted with the American representatives. Claims have often been made that Lord Alverstone was instructed to vote that way, regardless of his real opinion, after President 'Teddy' Roosevelt had threatened to take what he wanted by force.

In the links that follow is extensive documentation dating back to 1825. What do you think - did Canada get robbed when Lord Alverstone caved in to pressure?"

But back then, Britain had a NAVY. And Canada was owned, lock, stock and ice by Britain.

I'd rather not see a rematch. We might win.

It used to be in the extreme northwest of Canada. The United States saw fit to move it into a small box southwest of California. If you don't believe me, look at a map. :)

I haven't heard anything about Bob Goen in the papers here, so I'm assuming he's not in ND. Some guy (I forgot his name) is running as a Democrat against John Hoeven (moderate repub) next year. I really don't really mind Hoeven, but if I like the other guy enough, I'll vote for him.

The precise boundary line between Maine and New Brunswick remained a matter of often-heated argument for years after the close of the Revolutionary War.

I would trust Alaska in Canadian protection. We have Republican looters loose and at-large.
