The dog is hiding in here under my chair

'cause he's in Big Trouble. Mr 'pede thawed out a small steak to cook for dinner and left it sitting a little to close to the edge of the counter and...well, you know the rest. Unfortunately, the hubby yelled at the doggie, which stresses him out (the dog, that is). So we'll probably see that steak again within the hour. :P

that was a fine piece 'o meat. I don't eat much beef anymore, so I get the hubby some NY strips or ribeyes and cut them in half - just the right size for one. And at the last Dr. visit, the pooch was put on a diet - Dr. Tom wants to see him a little lighter (he's a standard poodle at 70 lbs) - so he's a little hungry with the cut-back on treats.

is always jumping on the table or counter to get at food. I've tried everything, from throwing it into the pool to stuffing it in the deep freeze, it never learns.

the food or the cat? Just kidding. I'm really more of a "cat person" myself. I love my dog like crazy, but I like the independence of cats.

Now he knows not to make that mistake again. It isn't the end of the world to lose a steak- the dog probably really enjoyed it!

And, yes, the doggie did enjoy it. But Mr. 'pede had perforated (perforating?) ulcer surgery last July and yelling at him would not be great for his own digestion. Maybe HE should give up steak.

he was a leaper, so he would leap on to the counter and get whatever was there... we learned not to leave things out in the counter, or that we would have to close the door to the kitchen if we did leave something out for defrosting.

Now, we have a yorkie who is not a leaper but is a climber. He thinks he needs to sit at the table with the rest of the people.
We have to laugh (and then make him get down) every time we see him sitting on the chair anyone hasn't pushed back towards the table.
Now we have to make sure all chairs are pushed back towards the table, we have to make sure the trash is taken out if we are all going out and there is going to be no one at the house, otherwise the trash gets taken out at the end of the day, and we have to make sure that regardless of whether we are going out, or not, the trash gets taken out immediately if there are any chicken bones as part of the day's cooking.
