I'll PM you to tell you where I'm at
Levee wise, I'm not in one of the areas of certain fuckage like Natomas, my concern is how I'd get out of town if I needed to during a bad flood. I guess if nothing else I could head south to my Dad's. The creek he's on floods father south and he's not in an area that would be effected by a levee break.

Edited on Sat Dec-03-05 01:43 AM by Ladyhawk
One evening I took a stroll at Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey and found some black-capped night herons. I was so psyched I called my mother and made her look them up in my bird book. I knew they were some kind of heron and I was guessing they were a "night heron," as well. Not too many bird species are truly nocturnal.

They were all over the place at the wharf. Unfortunately, one had met an untimely end in the water. I bet a sea lion played with him until he died or something. :(

On edit: black-crowned night herons, not black-capped...I'm thinking of black-capped lories or something.

77. Yes, I have lived here my entire life
Edited on Sun Dec-04-05 07:22 AM by Left_Winger
with the exception of military service (1976-81) and university work in Germany and Poland (1994-96).

I have thought about leaving, but I am rather close to my family and I do have a good career as a school teacher so I never have. I feel that it is important to bring as much of the outside world to my students as possible; and I do enjoy my work with young people.

My hometown, Columbia, is not exactly what many may think. We have a large university here which brings in many people from around the country and the world. One reason we have so many students from the northeast is that our out of state tuition is cheaper than their in state tuition. Therefore, we do have many progressive people. Also, in contradiction to our national reputation of being republican, the local government in my area is about 80% Democrat.

My second home is my family's house at Litchfield Beach which lies about midway between Charleston (beautiful with an amazing culture) and Myrtle Beach (ugly and "tourism on the cheap"). My grandparents built the house in the 1950s and we have had it ever since. It took a beating in 1989 during hurricane Hugo, but remained intact. This is where I spend my summers and "down time" from teaching.

In which part of California do you reside? Your state is so big it is almost like a whole country by itself. I responded to your thread about east coast DUers and our impressions of CA. But I only passed through LAX, Camp Pendleton (one week) and the San Diego airport.

82. Hi XemaSab!
My real name is Laura. I am married with two kids, and make my living as a real estate appraiser. I was born in Wisconsin...but moved here, sadly, to Michigan some time ago. My hobbies are basically reading and sleeping and watching football. I also enjoy getting out there and doing stuff with my kids. :hi:

It's nice to meet you.
