USC - UCLA thread.
This game could be the clincher for Reggie Bush winning the Heisman.
The Helix HS alum is the best back I have seen in decades. When he ran in high school, it was like the men against the boys. Almost unfair!
My son was an O-lineman for Helix (La Mesa CA/San Diego) and blocked for both Bush and 49er QB Alex Smith.

Go Trojans!!!

1. If USC should lose (fat chance) . . .
. . . would they still go to the NC game?

2. They'll still win the Pac-10 which puts them in the Rose Bowl vs Texas.
That should still be the NC game.
Right?

5. I don't think they'd win the PAC 10
Because UCLA has only one loss (and it's in the PAC 10). So if USC lost to UCLA, and they are tied in PAC 10 competition, UCLA would be the PAC 10 winners.

6. USC has the tiebreakers
therefore, they have won the Pac-10. With a USC loss, UCLA, Oregon and USC would tie for the title at 7-1. The tie-breaker is head to head matchups against like competition. UCLA didn't play Oregon, so they are eliminated from the tiebreaker. USC beat Oregon, so the Trojans go. I prefer the Big Ten model, actually, ties go to the team that went to the championship bowl game the most amount of time ago.

4. Go USC!!!!
:hi: to all my USC friends!!

I can't wait for a USC-Texas national championship. To say the last two years' NCAA football championship games have been uneven matches would be the understatement of the century!

I'm cheering the Trojans on today, on a slow connection, so can't post as much as I usually do on Saturday football threads, but I'm here in spirit!

After this, you guys tune in to the SEC Championship game between LSU and Georgia and cheer my 'Dawgs on, ok? I won't be online then, but I'll be checking in later to see who was naughty and nice!

:D

13. Don't tell me that.
I might decide to root for LSU, just to spite you.

Of course, I kinda like not having a brick embedded in my head, too...

8. 105 rushing yards in the FIRST QUARTER!
I had the pleasure of watching this young man play in high school. He aveages 270 yds rushing, 100 yards receiving a game!
It was like it wasnt fair.
He's also a 4.0 student and pre-med. A very intellegent guy to boot.
Reggie is a combination of Barry Sanders and OJ Simpson (in football terms), IMO.

10. but they can't complete a pass.
and they're still kicking the Bruins' ass to the Valley and back.

and for all the Texas lovers, UCLA is much, much better than Colorado.

Leinart that is! He's stinking up the mausoleum.

Just give me a handoff machine out there, that's all I want to see.

Go Reggie!

19. You can call us that all you want
Not exactly original, but not completely innacurate either. I was one of the few guys without a fancy car and whose parents had to fret the private school tuition.

Just don't call us Southern (blank). I wanted to belt Lou Holtz for using that term repeatedly this morning.

They're still ahead but now it's 14-7.

Uh oh. I'm a bit hesitant to look at those links. I'm a tender ladd, you know. But I'll risk it.

23. Awesome posts, southlandshari!
Now that's the only way to say Southern Cal, when you're emphasizing it's innapropriate. I'm actually very pleased at the progress in the media in that regard. Still a few butchers on ESPN but maybe 20% of the former total.

This game is a farce. Like I posted many times here and elsewhere the past two weeks, UCLA is simply too soft on the line of scrimmage to give 'SC a game. I had the advantage in that regard because I'm in the West and see UCLA every week. Too many fans equated this game to the Fresno State game but the physical matchups were completely different.
