My Daughter's High School football team won their Championship today
Edited on Sat Dec-03-05 07:50 PM by DainBramaged
Played at Giant's Stadium in N.J. They kicked ass and took names. They were 11-0 during season in the Iron Hills-Iron Division.

When I was in high school, winning a State Championship was a joke. You had to be brick heads with iq of 25 to do that. Today, my kid's school, one of the BEST in NJ (Morris Knolls High) also has a big ass football Championship under their belt.

My kid is the school paper photographer, and you want to talk about memories? The kids got to see the inside of Giant's Stadium, and it wasn't filled with obese wannabe jock, ugly, drunk, angry weekend warriors, no sir it was the parents and families ans aunts and uncles and grandparents who watched their kids do something they'll never forget.

And this play sparked huge controversy. For which I am again proud of my Daughter's participation. (this was way important too)

1. Good for them!
Today was High School Championships Saturday here in CT. I was out covering one of the games.
I love high school football.

3. Once in a lifetime
They were escorted back to the school in a parade of firetrucks and police cars lights and sirens blazing. Parents vicariously living through their children, others realizing that THEIR school won a State championship.

They beat Montclair, 21-6. They beat them into the ground. Sorry for the other team and parents, but we won, they lost. No ataboys from this Dad. The kids are <--> this close to being adults and realizing that there are winners and losers in the world, and now, no one will ever say sorry for winning. They never did it before, and they probably won't do it again. Good for them. A good thing on their permanent record.

4. You're a sportswriter?
I was one for years. God, I loved writing about the kids.

Kollyfornia doesn't have state championships in football, but the local high school is playing right now for the section large-school championship.

GO BALERS! :bounce:

6. I guess that's always been the reasoning
Although Tejas is twice as big in area, and... well, nemmind. It's different there. :eyes:

Kollyforniya's gonna do a two-year "experiment" with state football championships next year or the year after, so we'll see.

9. No I am not qualified to write about anything other than Tootsie Pops
The article was about the school play my kidlette was supposed to be in but was in when they did their own about intolerance after the fundie wingnuts poked the Administration and had it canceled. Afraid of gays or informing their kids about gays. Big controversy.
