I was formerly known as barking_23 and after the election many of us here changed our screen names. As you can see, I don't post a lot, and the offer was made (after the election) for people to change their screen names.
I chose "vajraroshana", because I'm Buddhist, and the name is Sanskrit and refers to aspects of esoteric Buddhism. "Vajra" is 'indestructible essence of mind', also 'lightning' and 'diamond'. And "roshana" means 'rage', 'furious'. Part of esoteric Buddhism has the idea that 'rage' isn't always negative; it can be an aspect of clarity when it's connected to 'justice'. Or just seeing things very clearly. Sometimes anger isn't a negative emotion, it's just seeing things very clearly.
That's the way I felt when I chose that screen name. Perhaps, in retrospect, it's a bit pompous. Oh well, I don't want to change it again.
I think it represents the way I felt after the last election, and continues to resonate with the way I feel. Anger and rage can be negative and totally self-destructive (and other-destructive as well), but, at least according to esoteric Buddhism, you can use that energy for your own clarity for compassionate ends, as long as it's not selfish. Very dangerous energy, they say, but nevertheless, powerful. I guess an easier way to say it is the way 'Rage Against the Machine' says it :"Anger is a gift!"
