What's on your Christmas shopping list? Here's mine:
Dad and Mom: Weekend out of town in Natchez, MS, complete with hotel room and meals.

Dad: CDs

Mom: Fireman Santa

Brother: New firefighter jacket, shirts, gloves, Emergency! DVD set.

Kiddo: PSP Playstation and games; Shwinn Stingray bicycle; neon clock; clothes.

So what's on your list? Maybe some of your ideas can help other DUers who are having a difficult time finding gifts for family and friends.

2. Gift cards for everyone!
I'm being lazy this year.

3. That's the BEST Christmas gift.
I wish my parents would do that for me. But they always buy me stuff I don't need--but stuff I do appreciate.

Gift cards are great for hitting those after-Christmas sales.

5. Oh yeah!
My parents have way more money than I do so it would be impossible for me to get them something they actually want. So, I just get them gift cards to Barnes and Noble since they both love to read.

My sisters and BILs all have such odd tastes that I wouldn't even begin to try and guess what they want, so they get gift cards to some sort of generalized store like Target.

And my neices and nephew love the idea of having their own 'credit card' to spend as they choose. Gift cards to Toys R Us.

My SO is so damn picky that I can never manage to get him the exact style he's looking for. Gift card to the mall.

6. Exactly
but it has nothing to do with being lazy. I LOVE getting gift cards. It makes me feel like a kid in a candy store. I don't know of many people who don't like a gift certificate. I think it is the big trend this year.

7. It's just so much easier
especially for people you may not talk to much for the rest of the year.

10. my kids LOVE that tent with the tunnel!!!
They are 3 and 18 month old twins. I can't tell you how much enjoyment they get out of that thing. It has been great since it has gotten cold and the weather has been too bad some days to go outside to play. My husband sets the tunnel up as a slide going down from the couch with pillows under it and everything, they love it.

Where did you get the puppets? We live near the ocean, sounds like something my kids would enjoy too, especially the lobster!

8. last year we decided to do the grab bag thing
(big extended family). It's a lot easier than having to buy for everyone.

I got my brother's name... he just usually tells me what he wants. Clothes typically.

My husband got his gf's name. So we'll have to see.

husband.. I don't know. He hasn't really hinted yet. Maybe some new cookbooks.
kid... video stuff galore. Proabably books, some new Gamecube games, and maybe a skateboard or scooter. Also he just started taking drum lessons, so we might get him a snare drum of his own and some nice sticks - he uses my set otherwise.

12. We do the grab bag too!
So much easier than buying for everyone. We decide on a spending limit. This year it got a little crazy and there was a disagreement with spending limits so I don't know it we will be doing it again next year.

Everyone still buys for all the kids.

My sister makes a wish list on Amazon for her kids and I can just go there to see what they want and purchase it right there. Or if I see it somewhere else for a better price I tell her and she takes it off the list so someone else doesn't buy it. This year I purchased her kids presents during their buy one get one free sale.
I did the same thing for my kids. That way it is there for people who want to use it.

20. The Amazon wishlist is great
I started putting stuff on my wishlist so that I could remember what I would be interested in purchasing later.

My mother in law discovered my wishlist, and now most of my presents from her come off of the list. It's great, because she doesn't have to guess at what I want, and I always get what I want.

9. Gift cards for Mom and Sis to some home decorating place
since they both just moved into new digs. (Haven't bought yet, I'm still deciding what store would be best.)

A long-sleeved tshirt or sweatshirt with one of his favorite teams' logo on it for my Dad. (Haven't bought yet because I'm having a hard time finding his size.) Maybe a pair of pants too if I can call my sister and find out what size to get.

A standing photo display and new pics of leftykid for his paternal grandparents. (Purchased but I have to package it for mailing.)

LeftyKid's getting this http://www.toywiz.com/starwarsultimatelightsaberkit.html and a Darth Vader cape. (I bought the cape. His Dad's getting the lightsaber kit when he gets paid.) I think I'll get him some new books too, now that he's reading.

I only have one other person on my list and other than baked goods and photos of myself in an advanced state of undress, I have no idea what to get him (not that I'd post the super secret surprise present to the board if I had any idea what it was. That'd be kinda dumb.)

That will make an excellent gift. I thought I had seen everything James Dean. I even had a James Dean watch! But I've never seen that photo.

Cool. :yourock:

Now that I have a new family (my SO's family, that is) to buy for:

Dad: The ABBA box set. :D

Mom: A really pretty ceramic bowl

My SO: Can't post it here, he'll read it. ;)

His parents: A Lucinda Williams @ Austin City Limits DVD & a handmade tile

His brother: The Weekly World News book - very funny :D

His sister: A little lip gloss gift set from Sephora

His sister-in-law: Different lip gloss gift thing from Sephora

His grandmother: Small nativity set for her room (she's in a nursing home in Port Arthur after a stroke, and she lost her husband this year as well - this will be a tough holiday for her)

Other grandmother: Madonna & child glass piece

23. WEll, this morning I decided
that most of our Christmas $$$$ will be given to a friend whose home burned to the ground a few days ago. His oldest dog died in the fire and he has lost everything.

I'll be making a donation to an "ark" ( Heifer Project) and the rest will go to my friend to help him start again.

But if I were looking for gifts, I would probably visit the local galleries, bakery, etc and buy locally made crafts and goodies. Your thread is a great idea:)

:hi: Maddy!
