Remember me asking for opinions on my Xmas tree? Well, I did it.
In my living room is a 12-foot-tall citrus tree, called a "fruit salad tree." It has been grafted to grow lemons, limes, blood oranges, grapefruits, and tangerines.

I haven't put the lights on it yet, but that's on my to-do list. For ornaments, we are going to roll apples, oranges, and other fruit in glue and glitter, and then string them on the tree with pretty ribbons. And, of course, we will have lights on the tree.

I'll post a photo when I get my camera back and my tree finished.

Is there anything else anyone can think of that I can hang on this tree?

8. I don't know if you want to hang that real pickle, wouldn't it
get stinky after a time?

Maybe you could roll it in glitter and then dip it in a polyurethane clear gloss finish. That would make it last and it would make the eyelet you use in the top of the pickle stay in place too.

:hi: Now see, JJ told me about that pickle ornament. I guess she is right, it is a well known tradition and I am just ignorant. :crazy: :silly:

(actually, I came up with that term, even though a now TS'd DUer wanted to claim it; though I can't claim the "Mean Girls" for bitch clique, as I think Taverner coined that one :D ).

14. I like it. VERY much.
Even though I'm almost painfully hungry and the fruit's sounding almost as good to me as the Costco rotisserie chicken that I've been fantasizing about all week.

I really like it, though. As a Christmas tree and just as a tree, in the first place.

I can't really think of anything else to hang on it, other than any keepsake ornaments and the like that you may have from previous years. I'm racking my bain but, seriously, all I come up with is food items. :-(

I'll have to send you a photo of MMjr in his award-winning Elvis costume three years ago--he beat out 500 other contenders (kids and adults) at a Nissan car dealership's annual costume contest. Indeed, I might just post it on a thread later, if I can find the photo.

Yes, I will pull out my keepsake ornaments and put them on the tree. I love my handblown glass ornaments, so those will certainly go up.

As for now, I am off to clean up puppy piddle from a 3 month old weimy pup who refuses to go outside. :grr:

Yes! I've got to see that photo! It's also heartenig to know how deeply good taste in cultural icons run in your family. "Teach your children well" and all that -- the advice of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and -- possibly -- Young is redundant in the Maddy McCall household.
